President Trump has played this out perfectly. By isolating Turkish President Recep Erdogan, and effectively leaving him naked to an alliance of his enemies, Erdogan is now urgently asking for the U.S. to mediate peace negotiations with Kurdish forces.
This request happens immediately after President Trump signed an executive order [See Here] triggering the sanction authority of Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin. Erdogan called the White House requesting an urgent phone call with President Trump.
After President Trump talked to Kurdish General Mazloum Kobani Abdi, the commander of the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces, President Trump then discussed the options available to President Erdogan. As a result of that conversation, Erdogan requested the U.S. mediate negotiations. Vice-President Mike Pence announces he will be traveling to the region with National Security Advisor Robert O’Brien to lead that effort. WATCH:

Kurds have been helpful, but we are not indebted to them.
We gave them life from what they were destined to have, trained and handsomely paid them, and gave them far more than they could ever have hoped to get from any other entity in the world, a million times over.
We don’t owe a single dime or US life to them.
Throw in Brexit, & Merkel demanding invasion be stopped, and we have the events necessary to realign NATO.
No, most Kurds are Muslim, although I don't see what difference that makes. And the Kurds in general are allies, particularly the ones from northern Iraq. The actual fighting groups in Syria are hard core Marxist revolutionaries. They are allied with the USA and others against ISIS and other parties, but they aren't necessarily on our side in general.
Having them reach a deal with the Syrian government is a good idea since it should avoid a war between them and the Syrian government. It is also good to expand the Syrian government's area of control and influence.
And as a bonus, Assad and his Russian allies know how to keep the ISIS prisoners from causing any more trouble. The Syrian Army won't have much trouble defeating the rebel forces doing the dirty work for Turkey and Turkey must work out a deal that leads to peace with the Syrian government.
and any time you can have muslims fighting muslims its a WIN-WIN situation......Arm both sides and let attrition do its job!...
I think I’ve read that the Gulf Cooperation Council has 350,000 “friendly” ME troops under arms to protect the region.
The syrian army stepping in to defend the syrian kurds could be part of this new alliance?

BTW personally I could give a damn what happens to the Maoist Muslim Kurds. Everyone is insisting they were screaming America Akbar while storming Raqqa to take back THEIR land. It was Allah Akbar. It was not for us. It was for them. Yes, they are Maoist for the most part, at least in Syria.
Every Kurd in Syria is worth exactly Zero American lives. We helped them get rid ofISIS, who they we’re fighting anyways. We aren’t responsible for the Kurds just because we helped them defeat a common enemy You may want to read up on the Kurds and their religion.

I really don’t have a major problem with Trump pulling out of most of Syria and I certainly won’t stop supporting him What really pisses me off though is to suddenly see SOME FReepers demonizing the KURDS and cheering the Erdogan Turks and their Islamist Arab militias on as they bomb and attack the Kurds. WTF is the matter with you people?
