The Kurds in Syria say the Syrian government has agreed to send its army to the northern border to try to halt Turkey's offensive against them.
Syrian state media earlier reported that government forces had been deployed to the north.
It follows the US decision to pull all its remaining troops from the area...
(Turkey said) It also plans to resettle more than three million Syrian refugees currently in Turkey within the zone. Many of them are not Kurds. Critics have warned this could lead to ethnic cleansing of the local Kurdish population. (Just as Turkey did after it took Afrin in Syria)...
The Kurdish-led administration in northern Syria said the Syrian army would deploy along the entire length of the border as part of the agreement.
This deployment would assist the SDF in countering "this aggression and liberating the areas that the Turkish army and mercenaries had entered", it said in a statement.
The move also "paves the way to liberate the rest of the Syrian cities occupied by the Turkish army such as Afrin", it added.

We have fine weapons for sale, if anyone needs any.
Our boys will be down at the snack bar in the meanwhile.
Unlike the SDF Kurds, the Syrian Regime and its allies are prolific executioners of ISIS prisoners.

Let them fight.

Gotta cut off the head of the snake.
I expect the Alawites to prevent the Sunni Arabs from returning, possibly by way of exemplary massacres.
Let hadji fight hadji. Bring our soldiers home.
“It is their war now.”

Should have been all along - with them getting making deals and getting help from local parties, instead of just getting around to it now.
SDF agreeing to Assad’s rule is a BIG WIN for Turkey.
They could go back home a winner if they want now. Assad will keep a tight rein on the Kurds.
Assad will see to a lot of refugee resettlement there.
Or they could turn to Idlib province.
No idea what kind of deal could be agreed on for Idlib.
See, they are taking care of their own sh*t..and that is the way it should be done
This is the way civil wars are supposed to come to an end. The peace talks should have begun when the Kurds captured Raqqa, effectively defeating ISIS in Kurdish held territory. Instead, they thought they could hold out, for what? A Kurdish state? 'Rojava'? That was never going to happen without long term presence of the USA. Now, the Kurds can negotiate their new role in Syria with Assad. And all it took was Trump getting us out of the way. Maybe we should have done this earlier, like before Turkey threatened invasion.
I think Turkey wanted to take the land for keeps - same as Afrin and Idlib.
It those other areas they conducted massive ethnic/sectarian cleansing, to push out Kurds and Shi’ites, and pumped in a lot of Sunnis - especially the militant Wahabbi style.
They set up essentially Turkish Government in those locations - Turkish Post Offices, the whole nine yards. I believe that when the final lines settle out and the shooting stops, they plan to hold referendums on joining Turkey, and annex them permanently.
So the Syrian Government (Assad) and the Syrian Kurds are naturally on the same side against Turkish aggression - they just could not agree among themselves who the boss would be, and how things would work out. The Kurds were using their US backing to drive a harder bargain for autonomy from the Ba’athist Government.
They both knew that they would have to deal with Turkey and Erdogan after ISIS was cleared. That day, this new phase of the war, has come.
Assad is backed by Russia, which means we can wash our hands of this mess and let Putin handle it. Frankly, Putin can take over the whole Middle East, so far as I’m concerned.
I would not see that as a threat. The US and Russia are natural allies. Both are Christian nations filled with fierce patriots.
Our NATO “allies” are degenerate socialist states. All have no faith except for Islam, which is being forced upon them while they fret about being “fair” and “multicultural.” In between attending gay weddings, people in those countries lay in the hammock of socialized medicine and nanny states, smoking legal weed while their societies wither away. When the Caliphate comes, they’ll be slaughtered.
THANK GOD we have Trump. Trump sees where history is leading us. He sees it’s time to put AMERICA FIRST and work with allies who won’t bleed us dry!
Trump and Putin are saving Western Civilization. And all the liberals and Eurotrash can do is complain!
Idlib is not secure. I don’t see how it could be without Russia’s agreement, which I think they won’t give out of concern for Assad.
Repopulation of N Syria- which I think Assad would agree to for the refugees( and neither Assad nor Erd care about displacing Kurds)- would be nearly as good for Turkey as a conquest.
And much, much cheaper.
Getting into Syria to overthrow the Assad regime and replace it with ISIS was pure treason from the beginning. Assad, after all, was no threat to us and the Russians, having been there all along, weren’t either. Our withdrawl is putting things back in order. Great move, PRESIDENT Trump!!
From your mind to your keyboard comes the absolute truth.
“Now, the Kurds can negotiate their new role in Syria with Assad.”
This morning, several hours before the deal was announced that Syria would support the Kurds against Turkey, our President tweeted:
“Others may want to come in and fight for one side or the other. Let them!”
I think we should just bomb these Kurd bastards. The Kurd’s stand in the whey.
This should have happened years ago.
President Trump will save many, many lives by allowing the Syrian govt to reclaim Syrian territory. They will defend the Kurds from the Jihadists & deal with the ISIS prisoners.
President Trump will deserve a Nobel peace price if he is able to end the Syrian war in this fashion.
The only thing Russia really brings to the table in Syria is airpower and air defense (and maybe ISR). It remains to be seen if Russia is willing to mix it up with Turkey in either of these areas.
