I don’t want an electric car because you can’t carry 5 gallons of electricity in a can if you run out.

I wonder what AAA will do if you run your Tesla out of juice on a lonely country road somewhere.

Prius is a hybrid, so it has a gasoline engine in addition to the batteries for its electric motor and can move off without having to have the battery charged.

You’re talking numbers. Liberals don’t do numbers. They just like the words. Renewable energy. Wind power. Solar power. Those words are so beautiful. But please don’t add anything up. Liberals don’t want to add anything up. Liberals don’t do numbers.

There’s a documentary that mentions the Fairbanks, AK electricity storage. I think it has enough battery-storage capacity to last four days.

Aa average home solar system cannot produce enough energy to charge an electric car battery

What is the output of an “average home solar system”???

Sure they do, but it's a question of time (watt-hours, not just watts ₩. An array of 20 250 watt panels would take a bit over 17 hours to recharge an 85 kWh Tesla battery. So you'd need 40 panels to do it overday (because overnight don't work at all!).

Hurricane Katrina— we were driving 100+ miles to get gas. People who didn’t have the foresight to bring extra gas cans & stock up were getting testy with those who did.

I’ve since acquired chargers & inverters that can be powered up from a car’s engine, but once you’re outta gas, the engine’s off.

Simple solution; put a gas powered generator in the trunk of the electric car.

The BMW i3 does just that with it’s Range Extender option.

I live in Texas where the average commute is from 50 to 70 miles one way. Don’t see many e-cars here except for the blue-state refugees living in town.

My wife selected a Prius V for a retirement car, I love it!

Visit the grandkids three or four timed a day, 50 PLUS MPG!

I like it!!!

And the TCO is about as good as you can get!

What would happen if you replaced the electric motor with a gasoline engine?

Rush reported yesterday that the batteries in a Tesla will cost $33,000 to replace and they won’t last the life of the car

Sweet! Then I can buy a Tesla for $2,000 and shove a fat V8 and 6-speed manual in it? Cool. $15K for a smoke-blowing, earth-killing, high-carbon-output hotrod Tesla. I’m in.
