Oh, Eric Clapton brings up the ultimate father’s tear-jerker:
Tears in Heaven.

If you don’t know, he wrote the song after his son was killed in an accident in the home.

Would you hold my hand If I saw you in heaven?
Would you help me stand If I saw you in heaven?
I’ll find my way through night and day ‘Cause I know I just can’t stay here in heaven.
Time can bring you down, time can bend your knees.
Time can break your heart, have you begging please, begging please.
Beyond the door there’s peace I’m sure and I know there’ll be no more tears in heaven.

My personal favorite hasn't changed over the years, It is “That silver-haired Daddy of mine”,authored and performed by the late Gene Autry. It is a heart-wrenching lament of regret and longing.

Death of Eric Clapton’s son. So sad. To come home and see the emergency crews there for his suddenly dead son would be impossible to accept.

Tragic story.
