Well, my father told me
"Son, you had better get a gun"
Wow ! Great explanation !
A couple of others where fathers and sons are mentioned:

I heard my Dad softly singing this shortly after my brother died at age 30.
Sho’ nuff! WoooHoooo!!
Love “Cats in the Cradle”. Heard Chapin play it live at my college in 1973 or 74. He claimed then it was the first time he played it in concert. True? I don’t know. The timing was accurate, as the album “Verities and Balderdash” was released within a month of the concert, IIRC.
“Leader of the Band” always makes my computer terminal all misty. Though neither me nor my father were musicians, I always saw and felt a similar connection. In truth, I think it speaks to all boys of our age who looked up to their fathers.
Now, for true silliness, I’ll nominate “I’m My Own Grandpa”, originally done by Lonzo & Oscar. You can hear it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x3CvRC4fAmk
Good evening, Mayor, and thank you for today’s sustenance for body and soul.
The weekend is just around the corner. Don’t forget to rest.
