Way back in MAY : Pelosi warns Trump on Iran: Only Congress can declare war

Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) sounded a warning to those in the Trump administration taking aggressive military steps toward confronting Iran: You can't go to war without Congress.

"The responsibility in the Constitution is for Congress to declare war," Pelosi told reporters in the Capitol. "So I hope that the president's advisers recognize they have no authorization to go forward in any way."

Pelosi specifically argued the current authorization for use of military force (AUMF), which was passed to fight terrorists in Afghanistan following the 9/11 attacks, would not extend to a confrontation with Iran.

"They cannot call the authorization, AUMF, the authorization for the use of military force that was passed in 2001, as any authorization to go forward in the Middle East now," she said.

oh really?
Pelosi WARNING a sitting president about foreign relations or defense issues

even though her political party has launched multiple wars invasions and aggressions... without bothering with declarations of war

she thinks she’s in charge of USA and she thinks different rules apply to her (or rather, NO rules or morals apply to her), than to anyone else

she needs to be imprisioned for doctoring the Obama “eligibility” papers and for subverting our representative system of government by forcing O-care through without even letting our elected reps see the dam*ed bill, or discuss or debate it

She said the same thing to Obama regarding Libya right? Or when getting us involved in Syria?

That didn’t seem to stop Obama from bombing the snot out of Libya, overthrowing that country. Or trying to overthrow Egypt, or expanding a civil war in Syria. Was Pelosi as concerned then about Obama’s use of the military?

Not asked: Were there declarations of war for the Korea and Vietnam “conflict/police actions?”

Pelosi errs. The IRGC is a terrorist organization... or is she fretting that the democratic party is one too , just as guilty as Al Qaeda, if not in bed with it, and that under that charter Trump could declare war on it?

“The responsibility in the Constitution is for Congress to declare war,”

The last time Congress declared war was in June of 1942 (against Hungary, Bulgaria and Romania). Yet we’ve been in a whole bunch of wars since then. I agree that Congress should have a say, but it’s bordering on absurd for her to use that language.

Why hasn’t Congress declared war for the last 3/4ths of a century?

Remember Vietnam? The Gulf of Tonkin Resolution was all LBJ needed to get us into that war for 10 years. Correction, US advisors were dying in Nam in 1959.
