I have driven I 10 between Phoenix and Tucson at least 400 times in the past 30 years. I also live nearly north of the Gila River Reservation south of Ahwatukee. I can tell you that it is a fact that all Gila River community cares about is the money $$$.
There's nothing wrong with money being the main factor but don't let any sob stories make your eyes wait for your heart ache because it's all about money.

I live in Maricopa and we need help with the 347. Widening that road, however, involves a different tribe who are just as implacable about not allowing the state to encroach upon their land as Gila River, so I doubt it’ll happen for quite some time. As far as GRIC, hubby works at WHP, so we’re familiar with them, lol.
