~The FReeper Canteen Presents~ Road Trip: Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska Eielson Air Force Base is a United States Air Force base located approximately 26 miles southeast of Fairbanks, Alaska and just southeast of Moose Creek, Alaska. It was established in 1943 as Mile 26 Satellite Field Eielson Air Force Base host unit is the 354th Fighter Wing (354 FW) assigned to the Eleventh Air Force of the Pacific Air Forces. The 354 FW's primary mission is to support Red Flag Alaska, a series of Pacific Air Forces commanderdirected field training exercises for U.S. Forces, joint offensive counter-air, interdiction, close-air support, and large force employment training in a simulated combat environment. These exercises are conducted on the Joint Pacific Alaskan Range complex with air operations flown out of the two bases. Eielson is projected to have fifty-four F-35's arriving in April 2020 and continuing through 2022. The planes will come with an estimated 3,500 personnel, to include Airmen and their families as well as civilian personnel.[7] The F-35 program will increase the number of military personnel at Eielson by about 50 percent. The 354th Operations Group provides combat-ready forces, global air operations support, and realistic full-spectrum combat training for the joint force and international partners.
The 354th Operations Support Squadron provides combat forces, exercise and air-bridge support through a diverse array of specialties: intelligence, operations and scheduling, air traffic control, airfield management and weather observation/forecasting. Hey radu, howz the moving going?
Will the new place fit all the kittehs?
Good weekend for me, son and I did the range on Saturday, handguns and trap shooting and then hung out for awhile.
Lazy today, just a few errands.

LOL! We were typing at the same time.
So you did make it out to the range. Cool! I know you two have a blast out there.
Moving is still at a standstill. Hubby’s still messing with stuff over there. *sigh* But it’ll happen eventually.
And yes, da kittehs will have plenty of room in that house.

I was stationed there TDY for a few weeks in winter back in 1968 and 1969. My crew chief decided to stay drunk at the barracks every night while I went into Fairbanks when off duty.
On our last night there he was at the aircraft on the flight line griping about not having a good time in Alaska, and said “And I haven’t even seen the Northern Lights!”
I said....”Well, look up!”
He did and said ...”Well I’ll be dam-ed!”
I had seen the Northern Lights every night. Beautiful!

WOOHOO! Alaska here we come! Sorry I’m late...they told us we had to move today back to our renovated space. I’m tired and just now found my laptop and finally my mouse.
Thanks for today’s Road Trip to Eielson AFB. Just heard on the radio that the general area has a weather warning...could be a foot of snow. We are scheduled for possible snow later this week.

Howdy, radu!
Did you finally get that rain you’ve been wishing for? It looked like you were and it was raining at DH.
We haven’t, so hubby is watering now. I hope it’s not too late for the grass in our front yard. It’s been so beautiful all summer but looked sick yesterday.

Howdy, LUV.
Yes, we got some rain last night and again today but all we got, total, was .55 of an inch. SHEESH!! They got 4-plus inches in some areas in west TN.
At least it’s wet enough to burn trash now and I’m trying to drum up the energy to haul all that stuff out to the burn pile.

Man! I’d be dancing in the street if we got that much. LOL! I know it’s not fun to haul trash, but better do it while it’s still dampish! Hope more is coming for you.

We’re happy that we got SOME rain but it was VERY frustrating to watch the system stall and dump most of its moisture before finally moving east. There wasn’t much left for us. That happens all too often.
There’s a slight chance for rain this weekend but ‘slight’ gives us little hope here. Just have to hope we get lucky.
At least it’s cooled down a lot. Only 66 for the high this afternoon and I needed a light jacket when I ran a couple of errands. It felt pretty good!
