Afghanistan: Three US troops wounded when Afghan police officer ally opens fire on them OCT 6, 2019 11:00 AM BY ROBERT SPENCER
One of the chief elements of the rap sheet on me from the Southern Poverty Law Center and its allied Islamic supremacist groups such as the Hamas-linked Council on American-Islamic Relations is that I have said that there is no reliable way to distinguish jihadis from peaceful Muslims. And here we are.
Three US troops wounded in apparent insider attack in Afghanistan, by Corey Dickstein, Stars and Stripes, September 23, 2019:
WASHINGTON Three American troops were wounded Monday when an Afghan police officer opened fire at their convoy in southern Afghanistans Kandahar province, a defense official said.
A statement from NATOs Kabul-based Resolute Support mission said the servicemembers suffered non-life-threatening injuries, and the attacker, an Afghan Civil Order police officer, was killed in the incident. The statement did not identify the wounded as American; however a defense official confirmed all three were U.S. troops. The official was not authorized to release the information publicly and spoke on the condition of anonymity.
The NATO release said coalition forces would review their defensive force posture following the incident, which appeared to be the second insider attack in recent months. Two paratroopers from the 82nd Airborne Division, Spc. Michael Nance and Pfc. Brandon Kreischer, were shot and killed July 29 by an Afghan soldier.
We are reviewing the incident [on Monday] with our Afghan security partners, the NATO statement read. Resolute Support continuously assesses force protection measures and we adapt and adjust based on the environment.
On Twitter, the Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack, which they claimed killed 12 invaders. A Taliban spokesman wrote the attack on Monday was conducted by a Taliban infiltrator who had entered enemy ranks long ago for carrying this type of attack.
That claim was disputed by a spokesman for American forces in Afghanistan. Army Col. Sonny Leggett, the top spokesman for U.S. Forces-Afghanistan, wrote the Talibans assertions were more lies and false claims in a tweet from his official account.
The Taliban routinely inflate the number of U.S. and coalition troops killed or injured in their attacks
After reading this post how can anyone here honestly recommend to any young person enlisting in the armed forces as our government puts them in such situations as this?
Careful, you might anger the 'fight them there or fight them here' types.
That aside, we should withdraw all ground forces, then napalm every square inch of every opium field.
GTFO.
There is no winning this war. We can kill as many of them as we want, millions more along with weapons will flood over from Pakistan.
Get our troops out of there and spray the poppy fields with long lasting plant killing sprays.
And heres another question. What would motivate a young Afghani man to join the police, and then stay loyal? That man must know that when the US leaves, the Taliban will be back. And then collaborators will be dealt with.
The Vietnamese communists sent collaborators to re-education camps. I doubt if the Taliban will be so mild.
ANIMALS!! UNGRATEFUL ANIMALS!
Why are we there? What is the mission? It breaks my heart to say it as an American Patriot and Veteran, but we lost this “war” overall.
There's the bottom line. We should not be putting our troops in the middle of that garbage land.
Afghanistan is a garbage country, the product of a garbage culture. Our enemies murder school girls. Our “allies” rape boys.
Nothing there worth an American stubbed toe, much less an American life.
“There is no winning this war. We can kill as many of them as we want, millions more along with weapons will flood over from Pakistan.”
You are exactly right. You can never win a guerrilla war so long as the guerrillas have protected base camps from which to recruit and train more guerrillas.
Yes, we should gtfo Afghanistan.
I can't, and won't.
America has gained nothing from our adventures in Afghanistan. All we've done is lose. Islamic terrorism hasn't been dented in the slightest since we went there in 2001.
Nothing but dead soldiers and lost billions in taxpayer dollars. What a horrible waste of precious American resources.
And for what? Revenge? Pay back? To stop terrorism? Those were once noble goals, but have we attained them? Not even close.
Despite our best efforts over the last eighteen years, our supposed allies are still a backward people, who will shoot us in the back at the drop of a hat, for whatever barbarous motivation that spurs them. Their first loyalty isn't to the principles of freedom and liberty -- it's to their fictional moon god and their primitive seventh century culture.
We're an alien, unwanted presence in their world. When are our political leaders going to wake up and realize that? It's over. We gained nothing from going there, and need to leave. Now.
Our young people, expected to fight along side our enemies? USA gone mad.
It’s not worth a single drop more of American blood.
BRING THEM HOME!
