Tucker Carlson says Trump's Ukraine call was inappropriate: 'There's no way to spin this'
CNN ^ | Oct. 5, 2019 | Oliver Darcy

Posted on 10/05/2019 11:15:14 AM PDT by Innovative

In a sign that the right-wing media's relentless defense of President Donald Trump may be cracking, Fox News host Tucker Carlson published an op-ed with Daily Caller co-founder and publisher Neil Patel zinging Trump for his call with Ukraine's president. "Donald Trump should not have been on the phone with a foreign head of state encouraging another country to investigate his political opponent, Joe Biden," Carlson and Patel wrote. "Some Republicans are trying, but there's no way to spin this as a good idea."

Carlson and Patel added, "Like a lot of things Trump does, it was pretty over-the-top. Our leaders' official actions should not be about politics. Those two things need to remain separate. Once those in control of our government use it to advance their political goals, we become just another of the world's many corrupt countries. America is better than that."

“He is a big fan of Tulsi Gabbard he practically swoons over her when she appears on his show.”

Cause he is more libertarian than conservative.

I don’t know about a “Townhall article,” but I read the original piece posted by Carlson and Patel on the Daily Caller.

Anti-Trump Tucker’s’ “There's no way to spin this” comment is a spin.

The Constitution’s 12th Amendment (12A) electoral process says nothing about presidential candidates nominated by the likewise constitutionally undefined political parties.

And even if 12A did include such language, Biden has not been nominated as an official political candidate. He’s a candidate to be a candidate.

Biden isn't even the nominee, and the activities in question didn't occur since he's been a candidate. They occurred during the eight years he was Vice President of this country.

Makes me glad I don't watch Fox News anymore.

I think Tucker needs reassurance that some people listen to him.

Lonely, imbecile who sporadically makes sense, but never truly is consistent.

THERE WAS NOTHING INAPPROPRIATE ABOUT THAT CALL.

I wasn’t a fan from previous shows, like Crossfire, I think, where I thought he was an idiot. But I thought I would give him a try, and sure enough, he reaches the end of his usefulness, as he usually does, and blew getting me as a viewer.

Tucker, once a creep always a creep.

I disagree with Carlson on this one. I believe that Trump was far more interested in rooting out corruption in general since he also talked about Crowdstrike and the Clinton server. He said Ukraine had a lot of knowledge about the Russia Hoax and would like to get to the bottom of that. I really believe that the dems are far more concerned about Ukraine giving Trump into on Crowdstrike than they are about exposing the Bidens as a father son team of corruption

If only we knew what presidents like Clinton, Obama and even G. W. Bush said to foreign leaders during phone calls, I’d bet we’d be quite surprised.

Tucker Carlson wants Tulsi Gabbard as Prez.

He has been in Washington his whole life and he accepted long ago that it’s okay to have one legal standard for Republicans and no legal bounds for the Democrats.

He has simply been in the Swamp his whole life.

Now, McCain, Burr, Hatch - these are the RINOs that are his people.

That is a good example of the difference between Republicans and democrats.

Democrats, if by chance they disagree, will maintain a solid front, or just won’t say anything.

Republicans, on the other hand, impelled by their prissy-assed stupidity, will chime with the democrats and condemn.

Fox News bosses told him to get in line. He has a conservative audience, and they want to make use of him.

Read the whole piece before you condemn Tucker. CNN cherrypicked the headline they wanted, but didn't tell you the whole story.

https://dailycaller.com/2019/10/03/tucker-and-patel-truth-about-impeachment/

The key question with Trump’s Ukraine call, though, is whether the president’s actions, advisable or not, rise to the level of an impeachable offense. It’s hard to argue they do. The president did not, as was first reported, offer a quid pro quo to the Ukrainians. He did not condition any U.S. support on a Biden investigation. The Justice Department has already looked at the totality of the call and determined that Trump did not break the law.

Impeaching a president is the most extreme and anti-democratic remedy we have in our system of government. A fundamental cornerstone of our entire system is to respect the will of the voters. The American people elected Trump president of the United States, though a huge part of our political class has never been able to stomach it. They think Trump is unfit to be our president. They definitely don’t want to address seriously the issues that drove voters to the radical step of voting in Trump as our president — issues such as income inequality, economic stagnation and our broken immigration system. It’s easier to pretend that this was all the result of a few Russian Facebook ads or because the same American people who had just elected Barack Obama somehow transformed overnight into a bunch of racists.
