Which is fine by me - I just want the option to buy ethanol-free fuels if I so choose. IIRC, that's a Dept. of Energy regulatory matter, not one that Congress can block - so why not let the people choose? If the E10 and E15 blends are a few pennies cheaper, they'll still sell enough to make the farmers smile.
FDR paid farmers to leave land idle I believe.
The EU pays for conservation land set asides I believe.
Not that I believe in either, but conservation may be a cheaper way of buying farmer votes.
Perhaps farmers could plant trees and sell CO2 offsets to crazy Europeans.
How about not demanding a mandate....let the gas stations also sell PURE gasoline if the like nationally and let the people decide what they want to buy.
“There are 11 Democrats in farm states. Have to pick off a few of them.”
Elizabeth Warren and her successors, with the help of a Democratic Senate, will harvest the dollars of large farming operators via wealth taxation.
The farmers should be given advice, not motorists’ fuel dollars by way of government coercion.
Hopefully, some Obama judge stops the Trump farm vote buying.
Trump’s forced consumption of ethanol ought to anger consumers — of both gas and corn — and people who have to pay for car repairs.
Soon enough will be taking that feed corn used for ethanol, for the making of tortilla.
Increasing the ethanol % in gasoline just reduces the fuel energy and further ruins small gasoline engines used by millions of home owners to care for their properties, as well as the lawn service businesses.
Production of ethanol reduces feed for livestock, thus raising the prices of the meat for consumers, and also consumes a lot of fresh water that would otherwise go into watersheds. .............jmo
Diesel baby!
Can’t agree with POTUS on this one.
Ethanol is the anti-knock agent in gasoline that replaced lead and other due to its higher octane impact and its less harmful emissions. Additionally, the corn mash that remains after the alcohol is produced is excellent livestock feed, so it has dual use. Finally, vast cornfields use an enormous amount of CO2 and produce an enormous amount of oxygen.
