In a new campaign video on Facebook, Senate Majority Mitch McConnell pitches himself as the man who can end the House's impeachment inquiry, a sign of how the chief Republican in the chamber might handle an impeachment trial should the House pass articles charging President Donald Trump with crimes.
"Nancy Pelosi is in the clutches of a left-wing mob," McConnell says directly to a camera. "They've finally convinced her to impeach the President. All of you know your Constitution. The way that impeachment stops is a Senate majority, with me as majority leader."
"But I need your help," he adds. "Please contribute before the deadline."

Piss on him and all the Republicans incumbents . Giving all to the only man in DC that works, Trump.
Oh, that kind of “hose”....
Good post and well said. There are too many know-it-alls here who can’t see the forest for the trees.
You can’t see the forest for the trees.
“I used to think that too. Then I read the Constitution. “
it’s a long-standing Senate rule that the Senate MUST conduct a hearing if/when it receives articles of impeachment from the House ...
Thank you.
The world needs turtles, too. They have a good track record against the hare-brained.
You’re welcome. I think part of the problem with many is that they try to “out conservative” others and don’t think beyond that.
Yup, you're right, but the senate if free to do a number of things like assign it to a committee, vote on it, postpone it etc.!!!
He took our money promising us that he would kill Obamacare.
Did you notice how that turned out?
Hope he does a better job this time.
I do not believe the authors of the Constitution ever intended for a lone House Speaker, to by default have planary authority, to either impeach a president, or to simply make up their own partison impeachment rules, to get rid of a president who is not ideologically left-wing alligned.
And certainly not for the purposes of further infusing communism and globalism, and desovereignization of our once free and Constitutional Republic.
All of this is nothing less than treachery against our Constitution and nation, period!
The House changed the rules on impeachment already, without a vote. Thats nit hypothetical. If the Hiuse can ignore its own rules, why dont you think the Senate could do the same?
