'Crazy to withhold security assistance' to Ukraine for political campaign: Top US diplomat
ABC ^ | Oct 3, 2019 | katherine faulders andconor finnegan

The exchange, provided by former U.S Special Envoy to Ukraine Kurt Volker as part of his closed-door deposition before multiple House committees Thursday, shows what appears to be encrypted text messages he exchanged with two other American diplomats in September regarding aid money President Donald Trump ordered to be held back from Ukraine.

In the exchange, obtained by ABC News, the concerns are expressed by Bill Taylor, the top U.S. diplomat to Ukraine. Gordon Sondland, the United States Ambassador to the European Union, responds to Taylor, saying, "Bill, I believe you are incorrect about President Trump’s intentions. The President has been crystal clear: no quid pro quo’s of any kind. The President is trying to evaluate whether Ukraine is truly going to adopt the transparency and reforms that President Zelensky promised during his campaign."

Sondland then suggests to the group take the conversations off line, typing “I suggest we stop the back and forth by text.” It’s unclear if the conversation continues, based on the material obtained by ABC News.

Sounds like no quid pro quo.

Trust but verify someone once said.

On September 30, 2009 U.S. President Barack Obama nominated John Tefft as U.S. ambassador to Ukraine

He's dirty.

Hey, Clinton and cronies got the Clinton Foundation shakedown racket. Gore got the weather to extort the world. Bush and pappy have the defense industry and left over money from scaring the world back in the 60’s with communism. Obama has Netflix and his commission from Tehran. Biden is entitled, right?

Ukraine was a place where the KGB used to disappear.

Their receipt of this message is most likely breaking the law. Their releasing of it, definitely is. Too bad we do not have an agency charged with examining how this obviously classified material was released. There used to be a group called the CIA, but their mission seems to have changed.

State, as well as CIA, needs to be emptied out and replaced from scratch. An Ivy League degree should mean automatic disqualification.

Definitely. I looks like career diplomat Taylor was trying to get the Trump political appointee in writing confirming that withholding assistance would be for political purposes but the Trump man saw right through it and corrected the Deep Stater.

July 25th - Phone call with President of Ukraine

August 12th - Whistleblower files report.

September 11th - Ukraine money released

texts were days BEFORE the money was released

I think you're correct in your thinking.

And I think the "lets take it off line"....was because he was suspicious.

What makes me suspicious is why the whistleblower filed his report BEFORE the money was released....cuz that would have spoiled the plan?

How many days after the phone call was it before the WB contacted Congress? A seasoned CIA and he goes to Congress?

All this took place well after shifft was aware of the
WB. Note also that shifft’s staff was in Ukraine a week before this text exchange. Did the staffer meet with this diplomat?

My comment posted to article: Reading the comments, half of you support the President and half want him boiled in oil. Why don’t we split the country in half and Libs go in one half and the “Trumpers” go in another? Might as well, we ain’t never going to be united.

Waiting for bricks.

Haven’t watched any news. So news about the closed door meeting/deposition has been released?

It’s legitimate to criticize evidence as fake or illegally obtained, but nobody gets a free pass on corruption just because the case could influence the outcome of an election.
