“To put it another way, yesterday’s announcement was the first time since covering the stock that we found ourselves wondering whether demand growth for (Tesla’s) cars might be leveling off,” said the analysts, who were led by Joseph Osha. Analysts at Cowen, who kept their equivalent of a sell rating on the stock, went further, saying that Tesla’s year-on-year “growth story” likely has ended.

Because I can tow a trailer in winter in Alaska with a Tesla. I wouldn’t own one if I lived in a southern state.

Just a matter of ratcheting up the climate change hysteria a bit more....throw on a bit more guilt and voila, newly positioned Overton window, adjusted markets.

A pity, as they work very well in southern states. Very popular around Atlanta.

Thet’s the point

Tesla should apply the technology to an inexpensive car for going to work where commutes are not long.

The real car is at home and the wife and kids

For local around town use only.

They still cost too much for what you get in any event.

Well, we have pumped storage plants to utilize excess power at night.

I do not see a real problem. Unused daylight capacity can be the charging source at night

It depends on the use. It’s very possible to charge the batteries only on weekends because distances for daily trips are not all that great

We’ll see.

America is dependant on electric forklifts and has been for a long time.

Avg commute is 29 miles, cars are not going to be charged every day, less demand on the grid at night,vs daytime.

That’s 60 miles per day. Only an idiot wouldn’t charge their car completely every night.

Tesla wants to save the planet -and- make billions for Elon Musk. They don’t care about profits.

The batteries in these cars are to be maintained at 5%-80%. You do not want to fully deplete, nor fully charge them. This is why when you see discussions on how long they take to charge, it’s always to 80% capacity.

Well I am not a Tesla fan and the overpriced forklift cars are just a bit much. There are better techs that are being tried
https://www.bmwblog.com/2015/07/02/bmw-prototype-with-hydrogen-fuel-cell-first-drive/

These have the potential to change how we drive and what we drive. A couple of options I have read about I the self charging aspect of this tech. Still in testing and it may never see production but I do like the fact its got its own power source based on fuel that is clean.

The other issue is BMW and Toyota seem to be using their own
funding and stuck on the teat of the US tax payer...

You see the problem now.

Automobile companies have found that just about anything can happen in the wild and it does.

An automobile is not a cell phone.

Telsa’s quality issues kill it for me barring anything else.

The auto companies, at least the European ones, are being forced into the EV game by the Euro Union. They sell a lot of cars over here, so will make sure to grease our law makers palms for EV legislation. Heck, Calif already had established its own CAFE standards, which Pres.Trump is reversing, which he should. Totally agree with you,re: Tesla quality, wouldn’t touch one.
