Pelosi's Sidestep on Impeachment Vote Cuts Both Ways

With House Democrats barreling toward impeaching President Trump, Speaker Nancy Pelosi is continuing to stave off a full House vote authorizing a formal inquiry – a step Republicans argue not only insulates vulnerable Democrats running in red districts but shuts down the GOP’s ability to wage a legal offensive of its own.

House Democrats who support Trump’s impeachment have more than enough votes to follow through, with 223 now backing his ouster compared to just 12 holdouts, several tallies show.

So far, however, Pelosi has declined to hold a vote on moving forward with the inquiry, and her aides make a point of saying it’s not required.

The vote for inquiry is not required, however, extremely unethical based on past precedent and due process.

Therefore, Republicans should be shouting to the rooftops on how Pelosi and company are unethical extremists.

If these unethical extremists ram-rod impeachment, then McConnell should set the trial for only a 5 minute presentation on both sides and immediately order a roll-call vote on the verdict.

Since the Dims are going to railroad Trump into an impeachment trial, if I was representing Trump, I'd 'leak' a list of potential witnesses for the defense.

Starting with Schiff, Cummings, Waters, Brennan, McCabe, Comey, Obama(he HAD to know), Biden. Put the whole Dem party on the stand. Make it about them. If there is going to be railroading, let's add a LOT of cars.

I agree. They want the Senate to have to deal with Impeachment and with confirming a new Supreme Court nominee at the same time. I’ll bet we get a big announcement from RBG soon. It explains why they are using such a weak case against our President.
