Mobile Coast Guard Aviation Training Center is an air base of the United States Coast Guard located at Mobile, Alabama, where it shares an airfield with the Mobile Regional Airport. The Alabama Army National Guard's 1st Battalion, 131st Aviation Regiment's "B" Company is also located at the airfield. The base is also home to the Coast Guard National Strike Force's Gulf Strike Team.

It is a multi-mission unit, for the Coast Guard's aviation and capabilities development center. Training is conducted to qualify pilots in the MH-60 Jayhawk, MH-65 Dolphin, and HC-144 Ocean Sentry. All pilots initially train at ATC, and will return once a year for a one-week proficiency course in their assigned airframes.

ALuscgatc5

Officer cadets from the United States Coast Guard Academy who are pursuing aviation careers also train at ATC. Serving within the Coast Guard's Force Readiness Command's Training Division (FC-T), the center is responsible for certifying all Coast Guard pilots are using their equipment and tactics to meet all mission requirements.

ALuscgatc4

The operations department flies the HC-144A Ocean Sentry, which is a segment within the ATC command that conducts search and rescue, homeland security, and environmental protection missions. The operations department operates under the tactical control of the Eighth Coast Guard District and has an area of responsibility that extends from the Louisiana/Texas border to the eastern edge of the Florida panhandle.

Eat and Repeat

Bible in a Year : Isaiah 11–13; Ephesians 4

We have lost our appetite; we never see anything but this manna! Numbers 11:6 When Kerry and Paul got married, neither one knew how to cook. But one night Kerry decided to try her hand at spaghetti—making so much that the couple had it for dinner again the next day. On the third day, Paul volunteered to cook, doubling the amount of pasta and sauce, hoping the huge pot would last through the weekend. As the couple sat down for dinner that night, however, it was Kerry who confessed, “I’m sick of spaghetti.”

Just imagine eating the same meal as the Israelites did—for forty years. Each morning they gathered the sweet “super food” God supplied and cooked it (no leftovers unless the next day was the Sabbath, Exodus 16:23–26). Sure, they got creative—baking it, boiling it (v. 23). But, oh, how they missed the good food they had enjoyed in Egypt (v. 3; Numbers 11:1–9), even though that nourishment had come at the high cost of cruelty and enslavement!

We too may sometimes resent that our life isn’t what it once was. Or perhaps the “sameness” of life has caused us to be discontent. But Exodus 16 tells of God’s faithful provision to the Israelites, causing them to trust and depend on His care each day.

God promises to give us everything we need. He satisfies our longings and fills up our soul with “good things” (Psalm 107:9 esv).

Reflect & Pray

In what ways has God provided for you in the past? What longing is keeping you from trusting Him more?

Father, thank You for Your promise to faithfully care for me and provide what I need.

Howdy, PRO.

Did you get any of the crazy weather in your neck o’ da woods over the weekend?

We’re still dealing with July/August temps here. And still dry as a bone.

Those guys are amazing.
David worked with them when
he worked for the RCC [Rescue Coordination Center]
at Langley AFB in VA.
They do heroic rescue work during destructive weather events.
Thanks for a great thread!

Howdy, radu!

Has it cooled off there at all? Any rain in the forecast? How is Bella after shot day?

I never thought I’d EVER be happy to be back in my area, but it’s actually cooler here. And it’s 37 in JH!!

Hey there, radu!

We have plunged into Fall.

Within a week we went from mid-70 degrees and sunny to the 50's and cold and raining.

Son and I were going to attend the state fair here over last weekend but it turned cold and rainy, brrr.

It may be a brutal winter here but the cool now actually feels good.

You still in the moving process?
