Roberts is subject to the rules of the Senate who can overrule him.

McConnell just needs to say “no”.

If the Senate insists on changing his mind they will have to act....

The guy is worse than useless—”Senate rules” are for fools.

The Democrats _do_ _not_ play by any rules.

NOT TRUE! Robert Ray as I have posted in other threads, said over the weekend or on Friday - I posted the interview on one thread - that he does not NEED TO NOR IS HE REQUIRED TO BRING IT to the floor of the Senate. I trust Robert Ray’s legal expertise more than McConnell’s....so he’s full of IT!

“”I don’t remember a Trial for slick willies impeachment””

Of course, there was. Rehnquist sat in judgment - it resulted in a vote of NO to impeach him.

Take it up, lay it on the table, move on.

“McConnell reaffirms he has ‘no choice’: Senate will take up impeachment if it passes House”

Will if be “a full-blown trial?”

How many times did Democrats in the media use the phrase “full-blown trial” derisively during Clinton's impeachment trial.

They were absolutely against “a full-blown trial.”

No no no. This is good. McConnell is forcing the house to vote. If they don’t vote he has no obligation to do anything

The Senate can dismiss it at the beginning of the trial. Obviously, the very charges indicate that no crimes were committed by the President, and Democrats are wasting everyone’s time and money while interfering with the work of the President and others.

This is insane.

McConnell needs to get his act together.

Can you imagine Harry Reid saying such a thing if a GOP House was colluding with the Deep State in a coup against Obama?

Here’s the information on the Treaty with Ukraine for investigating corruption on both sides (here and there).

https://www.congress.gov/treaty-document/106th-congress/16/document-text

The Treaty is not there, so...

“For complete and accurate display of this text, see the PDF.”

https://www.congress.gov/106/cdoc/tdoc16/CDOC-106tdoc16.pdf

Scroll down past the blah, blah from Bill Clinton, until you see...

“TREATY
BETWEEN
THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA
AND
UKRAINE
ON
MUTUAL LEGAL ASSISTANCE IN CRIMINAL MATTERS”

And there’s the Treaty. Start reading there.

The very best thing the senate could do right now is to tell the House that if they impeach President Trump, the senate will spend its time exposing criminal evidence against HILLARY CLINTON.

She is still a powerhouse in the Democrat party, and if she orders the Democrats in the House to stop the impeachment process, it will collapse.

They remove Trump, all bets are off.

The goal isn’t to remove Trump. The goal is to damage him so badly he loses in 2020. Or, as Rush suggested today, make Trump physically ill from the stress.

While the GOP hate Trump and want him gone they can’t afford to have their fingerprints on his removal from the WH.

That is why the Democrats are winning. They make their rules as they go. But that is as it may be.

Don't delude yourself, the Republicans want President Trump gone worse than the Democrats. And both sides want him gone to clear the way for Hillary. So it is President Trump versus them at this point in time.

Plus, McConnell is laying down a marker to the Dems. Be very careful what you ask for because I will control the proceedings in the Senate, not Schitt and Nadless. It will not play out well for the Democrats.

LOL. As if McConnell is not giving the House Dems a free hand to impeach POTUS right now.

I have an idea. How about the GOP controlled Senate shuts down this nonsense before this circus gets to that stage. First, let’s hear from the IC IG. He can tell us why Whistleblowe regulations were changed right before this document was filed. Then we can hear from Biden Jr. and he can explain why he was getting $50k a month for work he was not qualified for. Etc., etc.

All the senate needs to do is issue one subpoena to the Deep State coupists for every subpoena Schiff issues. That would end this nonsense immediately. That won’t be happening because the Seante GOP wants Trump impeached every bit as much as the Democrats do.

My understanding is that they can straight up vote down an impeachment trial with a 50% majority procedural vote to not accept the trial referral.

That won't happen with romney, collins and murkowski there to be ultra RINOs.

They will hide behind the mantras "The public needs to know" and "We need to demonstrate transparency".

The last caller on Rush’s show today said that this would tie up the Senate in the event of a SCOTUS vacancy/nominee, leaving no opportunity for the Senate to take up the nomination.

Moreover, holding a trial would basically suspend any other action in approving other judiciary nominations.

Bingo. The “impeachment isn’t all that bad” crowd don’t get it. It will shut down the beltway for the final year of Trump’s first term. McConnell knows that. Yet he doesn’t do a thing to stop this impeachment train from gathering steam.

Earlier in his program I was happy to hear Rush was calling a spade a spade: This is a coup. He needs to me more clear: the GOP is aiding and abetting it.

99 of 100 Senators would vote yes to have a trial if the House impeached, and the lone hold-out would likely abstain.

Yep. And Mitthole Romney will be the star GOP Senator. If you are tired of Romney I’ve got bad news: you ain’t seen nothing yet. Guaranteed.

“The Constitution gives the Senate the power to try the president if he is impeached by the House,”

Senate has the power, but not a mandate. Yertle doesn’t have to bring it; he wants to.
