But I really am shocked at how extreme it has all become since 2016. Journalists now openly lie. They just make stuff up to make Republicans look bad. That's worse than hiding the truth.
The First Amendment should not protect liars.
I agree with your post. I began wondering about this back in Reagan’s presidency, it got stronger in the Clinton Presidency, and I fully accepted their deception and lies as a factual characterization and a routine practice on their part during the Bush Administration.
It still infuriates and discourages me that they can so openly lie, and do it in concert with the Leftist Media at large without any push back from the public, but...it doesn’t surprise me.
Just one of the reasons I LOVE having Trump as President.
HE has no problem pointing it out.
These people disgrace my former profession — 25 years in newspapers, mainly as a business editor.
Back in my day, you could still find a few conservatives — and a lot more fair-minded, old-fashioned liberals — in the second- and third-tier markets where I worked.
Top-tier media was already pretty bad — and the more astute among us recognized that this bad reputation was making life harder for the worker bees on the Podunk Gazette.
Fortunately, down in Podunk you actually had to deal with people — there was no such thing as drive-by media.
If you were fair and accurate, folks welcomed you and you were part of the community. If you were obviously biased or couldn’t get your facts straight, you’d definitely hear about it.
Now, the entire profession seems have gone full Marxist. It astounds me how supposedly literate people can have so little sense of history.
