I do not blame Chief Koval for bailing; he really DID try to do a good job, but I guess you can only have your hands slapped, and the tied behind your back for so long while crime rates increase, shootings increase, car-jackings increase and whole once-lovely neighborhoods turn into ghettos. :(
Godspeed! Enjoy your retirement at get the hell OUT of Madistan!
(I left Dane County 3 years ago - it should've been sooner!)
Satya Rhodes-Conway is an American politician. She was a member of the Madison Common Council between 2007 and 2013. In 2019, Rhodes-Conway was elected Mayor of Madison, Wisconsin. She is the first openly gay person elected to that office.
Interesting. I wonder if in the long-game this helps Trump. I hate that your wonderful capital is so far gone, but I know Wisconsin will be back in a big way. Go Badgers! They need to work out some kinks in their game plan, but man have they got some talent this year—hope it’s enough.
This is basically the same as is happening here in Minneapolistan. Criminals are coddled.
I don’t understand this country’s obsession with homosexual “mayors” and police chiefs. It’s really weird, IMHO.
Been up there quite a few times over the years; seemed to be a quite decent place back in the early 2000’s.
Wow. I liked Kovalev. His stance on illegal immigration was completely wrong, but he was a level-headed sensible guy. Yeah, no doubt the lesbian Communist mayor wants criminals to have the upper hand.
I live in SoCal, if anyone here lives in Madistan MOVE as quickly as possible, it will get Ugly quickly as soon as these Thugs Matter policies are implemented, Just look at California to see your future.
Looks like the prick caught a well deserved right hook to to the eye socket.
Koval was an A+ police chief working for an F- city government. He will be missed.
Madison. Beautiful city, ugly government. I was there twice in my Drum Corps days. DCI Finals was there. We had our stupid awards banquet at some fancy place downtown, I didn’t want to be there, so I just walked around. I think it was called State Street, right there around that big ol’ lake, or whatever it was.
"I want to thank Chief Koval for his decades of service and dedication to the Madison Police Department," Rhodes-Conway said in the press release.
Police Chief Koval announced his retirement in his daily blog on Sunday.
"I have spoken to the head of the Police and Fire Commission and will be working with the PFC to organize the search for a new Chief of Police, and will be urging them to conduct a process in which members of the department and members of the community have significant input into the kind of police chief they wish to lead the Madison Police Department into the future," Rhodes-Conway said in the release.
Starting Monday, Assistant Chief Vic Wahl will work as the interim Chief of Police for MPD until the Police and Fire Commission (PFC) finds a permanent replacement.
Emphasis is mine...

Madison is a communist city full of thuggish bureaucrats and looney professors. If it descends into chaos that’s just fine. Same as if that happened to DC.
“My biggest fear in leaving my MPD Family as Chief? Who will protect the guardians when they are hurting, when they are tried in the court(s) of public opinion/Facebook/and the media without fundamental fairness and respect for due process? Who will check in on them when they are hurt or injured (emotionally or physically)? Who will lead the cheers for the birth of a child, a wedding, a retirement? And who will be there for them to grieve the loss of someone special?”
But this guy sounds like a whiny wimp, a lot like the whiny bureacracy and ivory tower geniuses that infest the city. They need cheers? What? Emotionally injured? Go find a safe space. Court of public opinion, well then get a job or run a business in the real world and find about what people can do to your reputation. Due process on Facebook oh so sad. What a joke, they actually deny that to peasants all the time via administrative law (did you know that hearsay is admissible in administrative court?)
