John Kasich has a reputation for being vehemently opposed to President Donald Trump. In fact, when the Republicans nominated Trump in Cleveland in 2016, the governor of Ohio at the time, Kasich, couldn't even be bothered to show up at the venue. Therefore it would be not be unusual if CNN's New Day host Alyisyn Camerota expected to hear a sympathetic reaction to the impeachment of Trump from Kasich on Friday. However, imagine her surprise when Kasich poured cold water on the subject of impeachment.
Camerota provided some pushback but the real entertainment value of the segment is watching the look of sadness on her face while realizing that anti-Trump Kasich was not on board for impeachment.

Kasich is playing team ball for the GOPe. The GOP Senate intends to do nothing while House Democrats impeach Trump. So right now GOPe types are calling this a nothing burger because that gives them a reason not to investigate the IC coup against POTUS.
He realizes the can of worms the open trial in the Senate would bring. All the dirty laundry of all the swampers would be hung out on the line and surely someone would crack under the pressure..

So Kasich isn’t that interested in looking like a jackass again.
Kasich would prefer the SpyGate case not get worse because there’s at least a small chance the Rats can beat President Trump next year.

What I thought was most interesting of his comments was when Camerota said that Pelosi had not rushed to judgement because on the Mueller report she did not act, and Kasich said “She didn’t do anything because there was nothing to be done.”
