WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The chairman of the U.S. House Intelligence Committee said on Sunday Congress is determined to get access to President Donald Trump’s calls with Russian President Vladimir Putin and other world leaders, citing concerns he may have jeopardized national security.
“I think the paramount need here is to protect the national security of the United States and see whether in the conversations with other world leaders and in particular with Putin that the president was also undermining our security in a way that he thought would personally benefit his campaign,” Democrat Adam Schiff said on NBC’s “Meet the Press.”

The more data you have that can conceivably be cast in a questionable light, the easier it is to make an allegation of misbehavior. Phone calls, private conversation transcripts, tax returns, etc. More data = more opportunity for allegation of misbehavior. Weight of allegations possibly enough to lead to public acceptance of impeachment.
Schiff is really playing with diplomatic fire here and is seemingly too stupid to know it.

The markings on the document state that it was revised in August 2019, but no specific date of revision is disclosed. The complaint alleges that President Donald Trump broke the law during a phone call with the Ukrainian president. In his complaint, which was dated August 12, 2019, the complainant acknowledged he was “not a direct witness” to the wrongdoing he claims Trump committed.
