The only thing that’s growing is the welfare being paid out to illegals.

I do. We should have at least a one year moratorium on immigration. For crying out loud we're not Motel 6. Our infrastructure, roads, hospitals, schools are groaning under this onslaught of people pouring in here.

The reason why GDP is only growing at 2% is because Free Traitor right wingers offshored our factories....We have enough GD people.

Add “legal” to that statement and I agree.

Because 400 million workers making $20k per year is a bigger economy than 150 million workers making $50k per year, right Mr. Kaplan? That’s your goal, isn’t it?

Exactly. Provide incentives for larger families and make abortion illegal.

You read my mind. How’d you do that? :>)

I’m thinking that innovation would be an important issue.

Also, immigration would be detrimental if AI and robotics takes over most jobs.

The major impediment to economic growth in my county is the building permit system.

Ok, Kaplan why isn't India, with 1 billion people, the largest GDP in the world? If warm bodies == higher GDP it would only follow. But why is that not the case, tell us?

Bring our factories back and GDP will go through the roof.

The US population has more than doubled since 1950. So how many people is enough?

Pakistan’s population is approaching 2/3rds the size of the US population. So why are they still a mostly primitive nation with a GDP of $309b. The US GDP is $13.9 TRILLION.

Obviously, population increase is far less important than he imagines.

I said if they have skills we can use and they come in legally, I should have added that they need to prove they have a job waiting and the finances to support themselves’

It also would go without saying they would be totally ineligible for ANY sort of government handouts.

My immigration plan has employers paying a $4/hour tax on foreign technical workers paid less than $30/hour.

Free Republic sucks in that half of the posters are globalist Free Traitors™. If you by off on Kaplan's BS premise you shouldn't even be posting here. < sarc > Yes turn the nation into a bunch of hopeless wage slaves. That will make socialist faster than anything else.

It seems wages can ever be driven low enough for the right wing globalists.

Older people don’t drive any kind of economic growth.

we don’t need law breakers here who are just going to mooch off the system

I do not disagree with the premise, but how exactly does one do that?

Just because we let someone in with “skills” doesn’t meant a thing regarding the character you seek.

Actually, I think the “catch and release” is a pretty good system if implemented properly. If they do crimes and/or get swept up, they are gone. It makes them want to be unnoticed and blend in. We test them in place and “fire” them if needed.

The info presented on an application is worthless...................

Not a prefect system I know but there is no perfect system. Just something to think about.

Bravo!!!

Thank you.

People like Kaplan are destroyers. And he knows that the immigrants will vote Rat, a side-benefit, in his book.

There is truth to what is stated. We need more workers - both skilled and laborers. Unemployment is too low and is actually throttling growth and expansion. We don’t need leeches, we don’t need welfare projects, but we DO need more good workers.

To the poster who agreed about increasing the birth rate and lowering/ending abortion — YES!! Couldn’t agree more. But, even if we could waive a magic wand and make that happen, we can’t wait 18-25 years for that population to enter the workforce.
