Former Arizona Sen. Jeff Flake made a bold claim on Thursday when he said "at least 35" GOP senators would privately vote for President Trump's impeachment.
Appearing at the 2019 Texas Tribune Festival, Flake, a frequent critic of the president, offered his own reaction and predicted that close to three dozen Republican senators would back impeachment.
"I heard someone say if there were a private vote there would be 30 Republican votes. That's not true," Flake said during a Q&A. "There would be at least 35."

I believe Flake is underestimating his former colleagues.
I think it would be closer to 45 if the vote was secret and the Senators would in no way believe they would be held accountable for their actions.
After all, President Trump upset their apple cart and wouldn’t it be nice if we went back to the way it was, nobody to answer to, particularly those cumbersome constituents?
I’m having a difficult time trying to decide which of the current stable in the Senate would actually have the backbone to stand by President Trump in such a situation.
Again Flake you are a damned liar. I call you on it. Give us names.
Flake is looking for a seat at.the presidency in Salt Lake City.
Hey,Flakey...your gills are showing again.
Yep, there is another thread discussing Soros’ involvement in the Impeachment show.
Yes! We old timers have the time and some disposable income to support the primary opposition. You know what they say about starting a fight with an old person....
Add Sen Corker.
The way to ensure the Senate doesn’t vote to impeach is to primary every Repukes Senator up for reelection in 2020. They’ll tack to the right real fast... disappointing FR doesn’t seem to be pushing any challenges the way the lefties are
Isnt he smiling lots of dope these days
Jeff FLAKE, very appropriately named.
Someone should tell Flake the vote is public. Only Senators that are retiring or don’t care about reelection would dare vote to impeach.
Not to mention, there would be a least a handful of Democrats that would vote no.
They won’t care. Most Republicans in Congress lean to the left anyway.
You don’t go into government as a career unless you support more of it.
I have seen that meme in years
Thing is, the party members will still be around.
Then they MUST be primaried!
Yeah. I shudder to think what the folks in DC would do if they could remain anonymous. Bad enough what they do as it is.
He heard something, just like the whistleblower heard things.
Must be the leftist latest trick....go by hearsay.
I dont think its naive at all.
Polls show that President Trump has something like 94% approval among Republican voters. President Trump has Republican lawmakers by the balls at this point - with a few exceptions, they are not going anywhere.
