The few that would defend Trump are scared to death of the media. They may talk “tough” during their elections but once back on Capitol Hill they parse and moderate their words because their precious seats mean more to them than principles do.
This whole episode strikes me as a coup choreographed by the intelligence services. Even Romney’s involvement points in that direction in my opinion. It would surprise me if CIA hadn’t tried to recruit Romney decades ago when he went on his foreign mission (but that’s my speculation, what do I know?).
