Clinton wasn't convicted by the Senate (which had a democrat majority), nor will Trump (with a democrat minority). However I see your point. Trump should follow the Clinton playbook and have a major pep rally on the White House lawn after he is acquitted, and set the stage for a major republican victory in 2020.
The Senate had a Republican majority during the impeachment trial.
