Raytheon Co. Missile Systems, Tucson, Arizona, has been awarded $16,289,702 for one prototype Phaser high power microwave system.
This agreement provides for field assessment for 12 months of in-field operation by Air Force personnel against unmanned aerial systems threats.

Phaser can direct a brief jolt of microwave energy in the direction of incoming drones. The energy fries the control systems, stopping their motors and causing drones to fall out of the air.
Phaser could knock out an entire swarm with a single shot.
It can stop cars, aircraft, missiles, similar to an EMP burst.

I expect the drones to lose that race. The drone has to fly, while the microwave system can be as heavy and as powerful as it needs to be.

a race that the U.S. will win compared to all of the 3rd world terrorist countries like Iran ... but the 3rd world terrorist countries will first have to catch up with our death ray technologies before we have to worry to much about hardening our electronics ...

Hmmmmm. Considering the relatively low cost of this Phaser, I would guess that you will see them deployed at every airport and air base, refineries, military bases......maybe even the White House.
