“I wonder if President Trump is making the Saudi’s pay for this.”

He didn’t even have to ask.

In fact, the Gulf States produce 20+% of the world’s oil.
Even more problematic, they account for almost 40% of the world's oil EXPORTS.

“If the attacks on Saudi Arabia were from rogue elements that benefit from a ME war”

Who could that be?

I can’t imagine a scenario where anyone benefits from that.

War is not popular. Who would benefit? Let’s see...who wants President Trump to lose in 2020?

"I wouldn’t think of doing that."

Thank You Cedar ... That said, I was more addressing the mob, I only technically responded to your post because your post was either first or what made me think of it. Was not directed at you or really anyone. But I will accept your non-aggression offer with gratitude and say Happy weekend!

“Even more problematic, they account for almost 40% of the world’s oil EXPORTS. “

The Carter Doctrine says the US has an Essential, Strategic Interest in ensuring the free flow of oil out of the Gulf.

And we’re willing to use nukes to ensure it.

This is a valid purpose for war, if it comes to that.

Let’s hope the Iranians cool their sh!t.

That’s good. They knew what he expected. Past presidents would pay and think nothing of it.

What does the United States receive from the Saudi Arabians in return for sending American soldiers into harm’s way to protect them?

WE’RE not at war with the Iranians, the Saudi Arabians are, and they have all the missiles and drones necessary to retaliate against their Iranian enemies by destroying Iranian oil facilities, just as Iran did to theirs, and knocking out 50% of their oil production.

Are we sending our soldiers in exchange for Saudi money? The United States does not use its soldiers as mercenaries to protect other countries in exchange for money!

Do we need the Saudis to supply us with oil as they have in the past? No. The U.S. has become self-sufficient in oil production.

Why our president suddenly wants to become Donald of Arabia and help the House of Saud maintain its power, even at the expense of American soldiers’ lives, is beyond my understanding.

I thought President Trump fired John Bolton. I guess not. Here we go.

He said he fired Bolton because he was "holding him back."
Some of you people sure are slow on the uptake.

They should have been sent in but 18 years ago on a search and destroy mission!!

Um, no. They should have been sent in 40 years ago to get rid of the mullahs.

“WE’RE not at war with the Iranians”

The rant that included that statement is some of the dumbest sh!t I’ve ever read on FR.

We have been at war with them for 40 years.

And the US has ENORMOUS strategic interest in ensuring the free flow of oil out of the Gulf, something the Iranians are currently putting at risk.

Our interests far transcend the Saudis.

Nor wonder you’re new here. You would not have lasted.

It’s petrodollars. Rise in oil prices hurts global economy China, Asia and Europe which of course is linked to US. Trump doesn’t want a collapse before 2020.

Remember US reserve currency is backed by military. I don’t think this is a good situation but US has been stuck here since Breton Woods. When you run out of gold to back your money you back it with a gun.

I’ve always thought that US currency should have pics of aircraft carriers, missiles, nuclear explosions on them as a real reflection of what backs the the buck.

“I’ve always thought that US currency should have pics of aircraft carriers, missiles, nuclear explosions on them as a real reflection of what backs the the buck.”

Brilliant insight.

And stop the flow of oil out of the gulf, all options are on the table, worldwide.

Every nation will very quickly realize the stakes and understand everything they believe they have is at risk.
