Trump DID start out talking tough after he got elected. During the election, he did indicate that he would pull out of Afghanistan and Iraq and other areas where we were not wanted or had no business being there.

Reagan traded missile to Iran after they took our hostages and he pulled out of Beirut after deploying three (I guess he wasn’t doing what you said) after Iran bombed the barracks of the US and the French, rather than stay and fight. He should have leveled Teheran and we wouldn’t have had this mess since then
