Inviting taliban scum in is a bad idea. On this I agree with Bolton.
I am the last person to try to provide Trump advice on how to structure a negotiation. Maybe there is someone else around who is better, but I don't know who that person is. I am guessing you don't either.

The bigger farce is the fact that United States foreign policy (Reagan) created/funded the Taliban and Frankenstein’s monster has been biting us back ever since.
Trump was right in having a Pow-Wow, after all Trump is trying to fix the mistakes that were made in the past and trying to prevent the same Carter Doctrine BS that has been a staplepoint in our inept foreign policy since before Carter/post WWII.
Pulling us out of Afghanistan is what we need. We can negotiate a deal with the Taliban which they might honor (or we come back) or we can not do a deal and just turn everything over to them when we leave.
What Trump should have done was invite them anyway, set up a seperate guest house, then once they were inside blow it up and say “two can play this game and don’t F with me next time or I’ll MOAB Afganistan into dust” I mean really, what makes the Taliban think they can blow up one of our guys for leverage and we wouldn’t do something like this? If we did then the world would know Trump don’t play!
