Thank you for explaining this to the Freeper audience! We really are uneducated about politics there. I assume any bad deal that Trump sends your way originates with the Jews within his inner cadre, like his son-in-law. I reject any compromise, ever, with those who have attacked a sovereign nation and lost. And most especially all barbarians who wish to push Israelis into the Sea. Then plunder and destroy the oasis built with the pennies of American Jewry and the hard work of your own citizens.

To the victor goes the spoils of war!!! When will Jews ever learn?

I believe the best way to peace is to keep the settlements in place and nurture and grow them. Arabs do have their good side, as I’ve discovered in one-on-one dealings with them, and some of them have discovered that Jews have their virtues, too. The real diplomacy and peacemaking is to encourage such one-on-one interactions under controllable conditions. Once you forcibly evacuate the Jews, as was done in Ghaza, they become a distant memory, and the harangues of fanatical imams has no counterpoint. Instead of looking to disengage with the Arab sections of Judah and Shomron, we should annex the whole thing and offer citizenship to those who seek it who have no record of terrorism in their family. Also we need to just get rid of Hamas and Fatah. These are criminals, not leaders. Annex Judah and Shomron, recognize Egyptian sovereignty over Ghaza, and get rid of the “leadership” that has no interest in peaceable coexistence. Then let things develop organically from there. It’s not the “deal of the century,” but it’s the only workable proposal that I can envision, and I’m committed to it, living in Gush Etzion.

The Knesset seat distribution, after counting 90% of the votes shows Blue and White with 32, Likud - 31, Joint List - 13, Shas - 9, Yisrael Beytenu - 9, United Torah Judaism - 8, Yamina - 7, Labor - 6, Democratic Union - 5.
Thanks Eleutheria5.

It would be an asset to FR if you started some threads based on the two you’ve written to me off the top of your head. And number them, part #, so folks will know to look backwards for them. You’ve given me more info on social costs to policy in Israel than my own family living there.

>> Unfortunately, Netanyahu is very far from being a right winger (the political tradition he represents has strayed very far from its roots), and he is also 100% secular. <<

That's my biggest issue with him, IMO. Netanyahu LOVES to throw red meat to American conservatives in stump speeches and gets fawning love in return. But the reality is he actually GOVERNS more like Mitt Romney.

Ideologically, Benny Gantz says he leans right-of-center on security issues, left-of-center on social issues like abortion and gay marriage, and is "classically liberal" (pro-free market) on economic policy, so there's not much of an ideological difference from Bibi's goals. Of course that's not so much an endorsement of Gantz (who I don't trust one bit), but rather reflects poorly on Likud's record presenting a different vision for the country.

For Israel to get an actual CONSERVATIVE government in place, the "Union of Right-wing Parties" (a coalition of Jewish Home & Tkuma) would have to be in charge of things, with Tkuma Party leader Bezalel Smotrich as Prime Minister. FReepers can scoff that they only have four seats in the Israeli parliament, but that's four more than FReeper favorite Nigel Farage has in the UK.

Smotrich would tell both the Gaystapo LGBTQABCDEFGHIJKWHATEVERLETTERSTHEYADDTODAY crowd and the Islamofacists demanding land concessions to go to hell, and wouldn't care how butthurt they get about it.

I can dream, can't I? :-)

Here's an interesting development: Israel FINALLY has a political party for Christians that is PRO-zionism and Israel sovereignty, and wants to protect the culture of Christians there, while fully integrated them into Israeli society, for example it strongly promotes Christians joining the Israeli Defense Forces.

It's called Ihud Bnei HaBrit, which means "United Allies".

The party is ironically mostly Arabs (not surprising since Arabs are the vast majority of Israel Christians), and, even more ironically, leans left-of-center. I'd take those "left of center" Christians over the Pete Buttigieg/Jimmy Carter "Christian left" in America any day.

Apparently it was founded by a sea captain from Nazareth who was sick and tired of all the Arab political parties in Israel catering to Muslims/Islamofacists and campaigning on the idea of wiping Isarel off the map. It says the party membership is primarily Melkite Greek and Roman Catholic Christians who are proud to be Israeli citizens. I find that refreshing.

Apparently they won 0 seats in the Knesset though.

There's some other tiny Christian Party in Israel called the Bible Bloc Party, it was created by Evangelical protestant speaker Dennis Lipkin. He'd be better off joining forces with the United Allies and working to move them to the right on social issues and economic policy. Demographically, his voters in Israel (white Evangelical protestants) are a tiny, tiny minority.

Christians only makeup about 2% of the population in Israel. If they want to elect one of their own to the Knesset and have a voice in government, they need to work together.

There was ONE "Christian" Knesset member in the Knesset a while back, but he was some Palestinian douche elected on one of the Arab List parties who was as "Christian" as Michael Moore is. I think he campaigned on the idiotic idea of putting up a Christmas Tree in the Knesset not because of any sincere religious feelings, but just to annoy/piss off the Jewish members.

>> Gideon Sa’ar, Gilad Erdan, and Israel Katz are top Likud candidates that would replace Netanyahu. <<

But the real question is, are any of them ACTUALLY conservative?

>> Israel Katz <<

Heh. Sounds like the name of an all-Jewish rock band, rather than a politician. "And for our next act, give it up for the most kosher band in midwest, Israel Katz!! Rock on, guys!"

Fun fact, Hollywood studio execs recruited Norman Jewison to direct the film version of Fiddler on the Roof because they assumed he was Jewish. His first comments to them during the pitch meeting were "You know I'm not Jewish, right?" He directed the movie anyway, on the condition he also get to direct a Christian-themed movie next. His next film was Jesus Christ Superstar.

This is great, but unfortunately over 20 years too late. Now the indigenous Christian population in Israel has dwindled down to about 2%, because the Oslo accord left such ancient Christian communities as Bet Lehem and Bet Jaalah completely at the mercy of the Islamofascists. Those that remain are increasingly taking to speaking Aramaic instead of Arabic, and no longer identify as Palestinian due to their bad treatment.

The ethnic and religious tapestry of Israel is complex and multi-hued, whether we are talking about Christians, Muslims, or Jews, but thanks to the idiot diplomats, it was reduced to Jew and Palestinian. The few dozen Samaritans, the Druze, various Sufist sects, and multiple Christian denominations from Dominican monks to Syrian Christians...are all Palestinians, a made up nationality that somehow encompasses the Kurdish enclave right outside Kiryat Arba, the residents of the Green Mosque neighborhood on the other side of Kiryat Arba who claim to be descendants of Moabites, the numerous distinct ethnicities even among Sunni Muslim Arabs who work in my yishuv, that are obvious even to an untrained eye like mine...Palestinians.

We Jews have many complex ethnic, ideological and religious factions, too. But to those who hate us we are simply Jooos! Our fate is to be something great in the world, and to accomplish that, we need to have greater values than the simple survival of our beleaguered tribe. My own idea is to ally ourselves with other eastern minorities, such as Christians and Druze, for mutual protection and advancement. I call my idea EMA, or Eastern Minorities Alliance.

It’s a pity the nascent Christian community took this long to coalesce, now that so many have abandoned Bet Lehem and other ancient community centers for the West. But these are the cards we’re all dealt. Nothing to do but play them as best we can. Sorry this party didn’t get into the Knesset. The way things are going, elections will become more frequent for the time being. So buck up and try again in a year or so, when the government falls apart again.

Israel has got nothing on the Italians, they’ve been changing governments every six months for the last 70 years.

They can afford to. Nobody’s firing rockets at them. Damnedly stupid thing to do when you’re regularly under assault. But these are the cards we’re dealt.

Yeah. The Muzzies will form the government and make Italy into a Caliphate, then lay siege to the Vatican and destroy all the vineyards and Renaissance art. But no rockets. Europe is so f@#$ed up I wouldn’t go there for anything, not even a stopover flight.

>> A lot of Americans don’t understand that Likud isn’t made up of principled conservatives. <<

I think they simply just ignore it, especially the "Evangelical" crowd on here.

Them: We must ALWAYS stand with Netanyahu NO MATTER WHAT!!!

Me: Ummm, his 'conservative' political party just passed one of the most liberal abortion laws in the western world, and is mandating free taxpayer funded abortions for all women age 18 to 35 who request one. Do you support that?

Them: LALALALALA... I CAN'T HEAR YOU!!!

It sounds like Gantz and Net might actually make a deal and keep the leftists and Arabs from power. Whatever happens Israel’s domestic enemies must not be empowered.

Avigdor Lieberman should burn in hell for forcing this election.

That seems to be the only way to prevent a third election, some kind of "grand coalition" government between Likud and Blue & White, with the two Ben's rotating as PM.

Ideologically, I don't seem much difference between the so-called "centrist" Gantz and the so-called "conservative" Likud.

They seem to loathe each other for personal reasons, like those two silly center-right parties in Ireland.

Problem is, they're pretty much at a stalemate now because Gantz has vowed not to be a part of any government that lets Netanyahu stay on as PM while he's under investigation, the Israeli LIEberman has vowed not to join a coalition that has EITHER man as Prime Minister, nobody wants the Arab parties (most of whom have a party platform of "wipe Israel off the map and drive the Jews into the sea") to be a part of the government, and nobody wants the "ultra-orthodox" crybabies to be part of the government, so it seems virtually impossible to get a majority governing coalition.

Of course this all could have prevented if the Israel LIEberman weren't such a backstabber, Likud actually governed like conservatives so they didn't lose votes to actual conservative minor parties, Netanyahu didn't have a cult of personality that makes it all about ME ME ME, and the Israeli Christians worked together to elect pro-Israel candidates so they didn't have zero seats in government and the only "representation" they get is from the lunatic "Arab list" parties.

:: sigh::

Stuff like this circus makes our rotten two party monopoly system look good in comparison.
