My brother and I were in the same dorm one year, and we saw each other approximately twice.
He was in college and I was in a dorm high school program.
People don’t connect or know squat simply because they are in the same dorm.
This means nothing.

I was a junior when my brother was a freshman. He was in a dorm and I was in an off-campus apartment. We didn't see each other that often, but we talked several times a week.
So, what's your point, that you had a lousy older brother?

Respectfully, your point is well taken, but sound journalistic practice would have been to disclose that fact, and allow the reader to be thoroughly informed. Likely, as you say, they barely spoke, but now it looks like a hidden agenda. This newspaper seems to play “sneaky pete”, even when they don’t need to, and further undercut their credibility.
