steps toward establishing one nationwide set of fuel-economy standards

I've got a great idea for that. The fuel-economy standard should be . . . whatever the hell the customer thinks he can afford, and wants it to be. With the automaker as the exclusive arbiter of whatever the hell he feels like building.

Sound refreshing--like, not a police state run by dorks?

Yup. I do not care what the fuel economy is in any of my cars. Why is the government essentially trying to force me to drive those little faggy Prius wind-up toys?

Detroit should be making 6,000 land yachts like we used to. This country is being destroyed by a bunch of pansies.
