Israel Election (Israel Election Thread)

The last one, held in April, looked like a victory for Netanyahu and his right-wing Likud party. But when Netanyahu failed to get enough support from smaller parties to form a government, he was forced to call new elections. So here we are.

The polling for the new election is too close to call. Likud is locked in a tight race with the centrist Blue and White party, which is leading the opposition. The ultimate outcome depends on a lot of things that are really hard to predict, ranging from minor party vote share to post-election parliamentary haggling.

Likud has 56-57. 10 seats are still outstanding. Once they’re counted we’ll know exactly who won.

Kachol Lavan has 43 minus the Arab parties. So the way the actual math goes, the Likud should do better than the exit polls indicate.

Like I said, the votes need to be counted. Like Yogi Berra famously said, “it ain’t over yet.”

Likud has 58 according to the Channel 13 exit poll projection. It needs to pick up three of the 8 open seats to get a Knesset majority of 61. Not out of reach.

“Is Israel infected with PC and liberalism like we are?”

Not as much, but yes. And after the Iran drone strike in Saudi Arabia, having someone other than Bibi as PM is sheer lunacy.

A media projection poll there isn't much different from one here....next to worthless.

The Likud will pick up a few seats as the vote count gets underway. The exit polls skew left.

I recall in 2013 exit polls all projected a Likud loss but it won the election once the votes were counted.

Buckle up; its going to be a long night.

10:53 PM (Israeli time)

“All exit polls show that Netanyahu’s right-wing bloc will gain between 54 to 57 seats. The biggest party, according to two of the polls, is Benny Gantz’s Kahol Lavan.

However, since neither Netanyahu nor Gantz appear to have gained a 61-seat majority, the two are likely to head to deliberations with President Reuven Rivlin who will determine which of them gets the mandate to try and form a governing coalition.”

Depending on how the 8 seats are distributed, its likely to be either a Likud-led government or a national unity government where the two parties rotate the Prime Ministership. Last time that happened was in 1984.

“The exit poll gave 13 seats for the Joint List, eight each for Yisrael Beytenu, Shas and United Torah Judaism and six each for Yamina, the Democratic Union and Labor-Gesher. Otzma Yehudit did not cross the threshold in any of three polls aired Tuesday night on the three networks.

The other two polls gave the Center-Right bloc an advantage, 57-55 in Channel 12’s poll and 56-54 in Channel 11’s.”

An exit poll on Channel 12 predicted 34 for Blue and White; 33 for Likud; 11 for the Joint List; eight each for Yamina, Yisrael Beytenu, Shas and UTJ; and five each for the Democratic Union and Labor-Gesher.

Interesting … Netanyahu tried diligently to politically bury her. I'm doubting she's standing in line to join a Netanyahu-led Likud coalition.

Shaked is a secular woman leading a religious party. A remarkable win for her leading a political party.

I doubt this, seriously.

I agree … and what’s even more remarkable is her success in spite of Netanyahu’s best efforts against her.

I think Shaked’s truthful little speech yesterday about the Netanyahu family did true wonders for her political trajectory.

If neither happens, we’re looking at another around of elections either in December or sometime next year.

In my opinion, this was an unnecessary election, only called for because none of the politicians would compromise.

If the Likud isn’t leading the next government, we’re looking at fresh elections in the future.

I don’t see any other possibility and a national unity government remains a dark horse for now.

“...in Mexico, you have to show up at the right voting station, your photo ID is matched against a photo ID registration and then I think they dip your finger/thumb into ink. Amazing how Mexico can do this but somehow we can’t”

What a good system.

If we instituted it we could eliminate 90% or so of fraudulent votes/voters.

Strange that when elected she was a sharia law judge.

Found a lot of quotes from here where she is negative about terrorists.

Wants their housed torn down and mothers of terrorists blamed for their kids terrorism against Israel

She is very attractive fer sure; on the outside anyway.
