RIO RANCHO In his first visit to New Mexico since winning the White House, President Donald Trump Monday night pledged to campaign for every vote and defy political pundits by adding the state to his win column in 2020.

During a rally at the Santa Ana Star Center attended by an estimated 9,000 people, Trump touted an oil drilling boom in southeast New Mexico that has driven state revenue levels to an all-time high and cited a spike in business applications statewide before asking the crowd to give me a little bit more time.
The Democrats want to completely annihilate New Mexicos economy, he said. But
New Mexico will never give them the chance.

Democratic Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham said Monday her administration has actually done more to help New Mexico workers and families than Trumps administration has, by signing legislation to increase the states $7.50 per hour minimum wage and increase renewable energy requirements.
But Trump said Monday the country already has the cleanest air weve ever had and said the Green New Deal, a sweeping plan to combat climate change, will take cows, airplanes and cars away.
A vote for any Democrat in 2020 is a vote for radical socialism and the destruction of the American Dream, Trump said.
During Mondays rally, at least two protesters were escorted from the arena to a chorus of boos.
Good night, Trump said, waving as one protester was escorted away. The media will say mass protests.
“...and our love will surely grow.”
Strategically placed “Latinos For Trump” behind him during the rally. :-)
Trump rally in must-win PA.
Man, you’re old.....LOL!
You heard it too?
That song = One of the Ultimate-Industrial Strength Ear Worms
Bush won New Mexico in 2004 after losing it the first time around. Trump can do the same thing in 2020.
Yup.
I don't know about the Ultimate-Industrial Strength Ear Worms part. There were a lot of songs from that period that really stuck with me.
That song came out in January of 1970, at which time I was a freshman in high school. An impressionable age.
Found a pic of the YUGE rally at UNR last Friday at this link. Hundreds of supporters? Uh, maybe dozens?
I grew up in New Mexico. It is special for me even though I really havent been back. Did you know? That New Mexico was 90% Mexican and 90% of the people there spoke no English when it became a state? That those people were all farmers and ranchers, there was no other industry. They were all Catholic, obviously and the church in Santa Fe is IIRC the oldest in the Western Hemisphere. You should really see the spiral staircase.
Did you know? That it was chosen for its isolation and isolated population for the Manhattan Project (of course you did). That because of that project and BLM/National Forest management that the Federal Government has been the largest employer in the state since the state was just a couple decades old. To this day I would bet that is the case. So look at New Mexico by County. Counties where industry is the largest employer vote GOP. Counties where the Fed Gov is the largest employer vote Rat.
Did you know? That water is the limiting resource everywhere but in Arizona and New Mexico it is particularly relevant. The central portion of the state is geologically a large Rift Valley filled with rubble. There is water down there but New Mexicans have been pumping it up for decades at well above replacement rates. IOW New Mexico CANT grow. In fact, it probably cant hold the population it has.
The town I grew up in is beginning to have dangerous sink holes from pumping huge volumes of water up for industry. Industry that doesnt exist anymore. Because the water became a problem.
Lots of interesting things one can learn about New Mexico.
Trump + Gary Johnson outperformed Hillary in the following states she won: Colorado, Maine, Minnesota, Nevada, New Hampshire and New Mexico (but not Virginia). All of these states (including Virginia) should be “in play” next year.
“Rock The Boat!” by the Hughes Corporation
Is another one.
Regarding Maine....
Maine splits it’s electoral votes.
Candidate Trump won Maine’s Second Congressional district by 10 points. It covers 80% of Maine and is 27,000 square miles in size, making the 2nd district the largest congressional district in area east of the Mississippi River.
Trump won one electoral vote as a result.
Hillary won the more liberal First Congressional district, in the southeastern part of the state....20% of the land mass. aka “North Massachusetts.” Hillary won one electoral vote as a result.
Hillary ran far more TV ads than Donald Trump and as a result, she won Maine’s popular vote by 2.9%, earning her two additional electoral votes.
It’s quite possible President Trump could take the entire state of Maine next year. Candidate Trump and his family visited Maine’s Second Congressional District a number of times during the campaign.
Don Jr. visited a gun shop and a gun range here.
Hillary never had such consistent large rallies.
None of them do. Not on such a consistent basis.
I love Taos and the ring of fire area
The spiral staircase would be Loretto Chapel. Astonishing story of how that stair case came to be.
I like NM and travel through there regularly. It truly is enchanting in many areas. Angel Fire is beautiful as is Red River.
You beat me to it! Unforgettable song!
theres a little trill somewhere in that song if memory serves..
