One of these people will be the nominee of the Democratic Party...

I do not think so. Of course I am not an expert so I could be wrong. But I believe the Democrats are planning a bait and switch. The campaign has become way too long. Much longer then most politician can run without tripping over their own lies. It also gives all the other clowns I mean candidates time to beat up each other.

The sensible course would be to set it up that the campaign for the Presidency can not begin (no ads,no fund raisers, no talking about it) before Jan 1st of the year of the election.

No, nothing sensible like that. What they are doing (in my opinion) is allowing all these 3rd and 4th tier politician get their 15 minute of fame, raise a little money, and bash President Trump while pushing the most outlandish socialist agenda possible thus guaranteeing they will not win the nomination.

The Chief clown (Biden) was suppose to be a place holder for the real candidate. All the fake polls making Biden the front runner were just to make the public believe he was really running, he isn’t. Any other individual making the gaffs he makes would have been laughed off the stage by now. But the Democrats (and the media) are pretending he is still a viable candidate.

No, at some point the Democrat will introduce their savior. That person will be someone few would expect although their name may be well known. They will appear to be moderate compared to the rest of the candidates (which at this point Marx would be a moderate compared to the rest of the candidates).

The best part for the Democrats is that this candidate bypasses a lot of the vetting that goes on leading up to the election. They will also have fewer candidates doing opposition research on them. While the existing field head towards the finish line of a 26 mile marathon, this new candidate begins the race a mile from the finish line, and because they are fresh and un-bruised wins the nomination.

I don’t know who this person is but I will not be surprised when the switch is made. Now it is just a matter of when.

I hope that you are wrong, but that is all I can offer against your theory.

I believe that some conspiracy theories are grounded in reality. I just don’t know which ones. If they are really good, I’ll guess wrong, so what’s the point?

I also believe in Satan.

I also believe in original sin.

I also believe in God.

There is some value of the maxim that one should not quickly chalk up to human malice what one might also attribute to human stupidity. Thus I am hopeful that my hope is grounded.

Agreed. None of these even want to run against Trump. They’re trying to out-stupid the others to not get nominated.
Either a latecomer jumps in and nabs the nomination before anyone can vet, or we end up with a nobody who doesn’t want to run and will get destroyed.

Best indication the Democrats expect to lose is they’re not running anybody.

Probably one of the few D senators who was smart enough not to sign up for the clown car debates. I'm sure a bunch of them are salivating. I have two from my state (VA) who pretend to be moderate (but are clearly not).

“No, at some point the Democrat will introduce their savior.”

Hillary Clinton waits in the wings for her cue.

Politicians by nature love attention, love to have their name in the news, people talking about them. When they say the craziest, insane things, insult POTUS, etc, - they get attention. As the old politician once said to his local paper’s editor, who had published a scathing article about him - “I don’t care what you write about me, just keep my picture on the front page.”

Most of these demokraps know they are primary losers. Nonetheless, the benefits are many - including stature in the party, ability to fund raise at a larger scale, possible position in the next demokrap cabinet, or POTUS nomination in the future. All these things feed the politician’s ego.

Recall how many elections Colin Powell was always talked about as the GOP “stature candidate in the wings”. For your scenario, the only leftist “stature” candidate I can think of at the moment is John Kerry. Enough is known about him, but there are many voters today who weren’t there in 2004. And, the major media has been outed in the last 4 years; they would work triple overtime to cover for him. But no one is talking about someone like Kerry b/c “red eye, loose lips, loose teeth” Biden is in the race. Unless old Red Eye drops out before then end of 2019, there is no chance for a stature candidate.

Your theory is an interesting one though, but given the calendar, I think it will be one of the demokraps that are on the stage that the media/party will select for their party. In politics, never say never.

Sounds plausible. A friend of mine says it will be Oprah.

The purpose of primaries, IMHO, was to give the media two bites at the apple. They were able to influence who the parties selected, and then influence who got elected.

With media influence becoming fractured and obviously partisan, that purpose holds less effect.

I will not be surprised to see a return to genuine party conventions, with the parties picking candidates, instead of these semi-public primaries.
