There is simply no way Iran could launch a score of cruise missiles at the Saudis undetected.

No way.

It’s the most surveilled region of the world.

Lets use Occam’s razor, and cut out what cannot be.

It is farther from Yemen than Houthis have reached. It is far from Iraq, and the US still effectively runs the airspace there.

It is close to the Gulf, Bahrain and Qatar.

It may have been a complex attack - a mix of different weapons (cruise missiles, drones).

Maybe they launched surreptitiously, from commercial ships, or had smuggled weapons into Saudi Arabia somehow?

Another possibility is that they were detected, but just not successfully stopped.

At one time there were geosync birds looking for exactly that (DSP). Most certainly Mother Russia and there were several of them parked. I would imagine similar technology is currently deployed but dunno.
