***allegedly shot and killed***
Makes it sound like they may not have been shot or even killed.
The news media usually say that some action is “alleged” if it has not yet been resolved in court. So someone who shoots someone “allegedly” shot them, in the media style book.
allegedly shot?
They either were or they were not.
allegedly killed?
They either are or they are not.
A better phrasing would be “Three men shot and killed, allegedly by the homeowner...”
Alleged and Accused is a legalistic term used for none convicted. Doesn’t mean that they would have been convicted if tried and found guilty. Just another idiocy of legal speak.
Please keep in mind that those who attend journalism schools these days are in no way shape or form to be considered the upper echelon of academia.
Generally, these are the students that could not make the cut for landscaping classes or the Army.
Well, it was dark, they may have tripped and fallen on some bullets.
