That’s not very woke of them.
” How long before massive supermarket robotics begin appearing?”
Not very long it seems.
.
I don’t get this. Isn’t Amazon’s CEO the richest man in the world? 3...2...1 for the dim/socialists to scream. Oh wait, I think he contributes campaign funds to them.
All they have to do is move from part time 20 hours per week to part time 30 hours per week. Still part time. And with health care benefits. Not a bad gig compared to most other jobs.

I don’t know how long the shifts are at Whole Foods but that isn’t as easy as it seems. 30 hours a week is at least 4 days. Tough scheduling a second job with 4 days at WF. It is basically forcing full time commitment with part time wages for any health benefits.
I saw one of those robots at a stop and shop in Jersey. Clerk said all it could do right now is ring an alarm at the top of each hour.
Maybe they’ll let them buy quinoa and soy milk on employee discount to stay healthy...
Management controls schedules—they can schedule employees for twenty nine hours if they want to...
Guess what, if there was a need for them to work 30 hours instead of 20 they already would be working that much. All employees magically working 10 more hours a week isn’t going to happen.

and they will. When I worked for trader joe’s in the ‘90s non management shifts were 7 hours and they had to work 5 days to get above 30 hours. And even at that the max was 35 hours a week. Typical retail. Full time commitment for part time wages and benefits.
they can go to union controlled stop and shop where long time shelf stockers and others make 80 grand per year..
“I thought whole foods was the food emporium for smug hippie hipster pseudo intellectual prius driving ecophag democrats”
amazon has claimed to be trying to make it more appealing to we hoi polloi, but based on my visits to my local WF, I don’t see the appeal, as the prices are still through the roof for the exact same things available at other stores in my town ...
(btw, the only reason i go to WF is to buy their rotisserie chickens, which are the only ones available that haven’t been over-brined into uneatableness and pumped full of large numbers of unnecessary chemicals)
“Hey...they wanted $15 an hopur, right?”
Yep. I presume some of them will wake up and realize that that, and “free stuff”, actually costs them.
I don't know about the people who work for Amazon....educated? or what.
They wanted $15 an hour?? So be it.
the little prick bezo the bozo isn’t making enough to give anything to the little man.
Besides, his divorce cost the little man loads.
My wife has worked in retail (various companies) for many years.
The “schedule” is a joke.
Employees no show constantly, and management is always calling her in to cover.
Then they fire the no shows and she has longer shifts.
Then they hire new folks and her hours shrink.
Then the cycle repeats.
Totally crazy!
WholePaycheck is ridiculously expensive and limited in their choices. I shopped there a couple of times when I lived in the Seattle area. Bezos has no shame (which we noticed in his divorce proceedings too, and marriage to that slutty looking woman.
In Spokane, there’s enough competition to guarantee reasonable prices for organic food. My Safeway has gorgeous veggies, so does Fred Meyer (Kroger) and TraderJoe. Target has a limited but very good line of organic canned and frozen food. Even Walmart has good organic canned and frozen stuff. GroceryOutlet has wonderful fresh and frozen organic stuff......
I have no clue what these stores pay their employees, but the people who work there are very helpful and friendly.
Lex Luthor looking out for his lowly serfs.
