McCabe team pressures DOJ to show cards amid grand jury speculation
Fox News ^ | Sept. 13, 2019 | Jale Gibson, Alex Pappas

A lawyer for Andrew McCabe, the former FBI official facing the possibility of federal charges, is making a fresh attempt to pressure prosecutors to drop the case against him – citing supposed "rumors" that a grand jury has already declined to indict him.

Grand jury proceedings are highly secretive, and the status of McCabe's case remains unclear. Speculation was widespread earlier Thursday that he could soon be facing prosecution as U.S. Attorney Jessie Liu recommended moving forward with charges, and the DOJ rejected a last-ditch appeal from McCabe.

Looks to me like a lot of smoke's being blown by the defense to make an impression that the GJ did something when nothing much has happened yet and to try to panic Barr. These are the same kind of tactics Democrat lawyers used all through the Clinton years. Government lawyers usually present evidence to grand juries before the juries vote. Witnesses would have to be called here and the case submitted to the GJ for a vote. Having appeared before a Federal GJ once as a witnesss and had colleagues who also did so, I know just the testimony took over a day. Thus, I suspect this GJ's deliberations will go on into next week before it even votes. Read the IG's report; there are lots of details and analysis for the GJ to go over. Right now we just need to sit and wait.

This sounds about right.

A coordinated leak to spook Barr.

There’s always more to these situations than anyone on the outside is going to know, especially those who just get their information from the media.

You can judge desire by actions.

It’s been 14-15 months since Horowitz’s Report was in, and they give a heads up notification to Prosecutors prior to Public release.

The same DoJ raided Lawyers offices in the Southern District of NY, and told a Judge they could not wait 24 hours to examine Docs that were already in their possession!

The DoJ (US Atty in DC) obviously doesn’t want to bring charges against McCabe and Comey.

The same DoJ rushes through approvals to get both men’s books published.

1) They don’t have to bring the charges in DC.

2). It’s obvious they have no interest in pursuing McCabe, but don’t want to lose an insider that is resisting Trump’s agenda and protecting important Dems.

I look for a half hearted Prosecution designed to let McCabe walk. The same office wrote a letter to the Media applauding Imran Awan and saving the Dems and Wasserman-Shultz, whose brother works in that very office.

The embedded Resistance weighs being exposed or making more subtle tactics to protect their own.

Yesterday “McCabe’s lawyers”. i.e., Bromwich leaked that the DoJ had rejected McCabe’s request for special treatment, and were going to prosecute him.

One day later, Bromwich releases his big letter to Jessie Liu, claiming the GJ hasn’t indicted McCabe yet, based on rumors heard by unnamed reporters. Would that be rumors planted by … Bromwich?

This smells of Bromwich, the NYT, and WAPO trying to stir up something out of nothing. As you say, it would be entirely normal for nothing to be happening at the GJ yet. The DoJ probably hasn’t even started — it’s not as if the they have a track record of hurrying. Alternatively, the DoJ might have put the lying counts in a stack that is awaiting presentation at the same time as numerous crimes of a more serious matter (my hope).

I can’t figure out Bromwich’s game here — seems a lot like the media manipulation ops that McCabe was caught lying about.

I’m not a lawyer. I don’t even play one on TV :)

Maybe a FReeper more versed than I can answer this question. I have read several articles stating that since so many rats (humans not animal) live in DC it may be very difficult to find 12 unbiased jurors. What’s preventing jury selection from taking place in, say, Glen Allen, VA, a city not too far removed from Washington DC?

This is small potatoes compared to the various ACTS OF SEDITION that the coup plotters engaged in during their little conspiracy to overthrow the duly elected president...if anything it shows that McCabe et al are nervous as hell wondering when the hammer will fall.

That was my feeling too. The prosecutors have enough on McCabe to call for prosecuting him. It is a cheap tactical move to imply they do not. It will not work in the end.
