When Jennifer Lopez read the script for Hustlers, she felt an immediate connection to Ramona, the most powerful stripper at a New York club during the 2008 financial crisis.
But she also liked that the screenplay for Hustlers, written by Lorene Scafaria, touched on much deeper themes. Its about the people, but its also about something bigger, Lopez said. Its a universal story about life and greed and desperation and what people do.
STX Entertainments Hustlers, which opens in theaters on Sept. 13, premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival on Saturday night, to wildly enthusiastic reviews. The following day, the films cast Lopez, Constance Wu, Keke Palmer and Julia Stiles and Scafaria, who also directed the movie, sat down for an interview...

Basically, strippers rob guys as they take them behind the beaded curtain.
A real acting stretch for JLO.
Who’s playing Chester the Molester in the movie ?
That's mean!
Funny, but mean.
I used to pick up strippers at the end of their shifts when I drove a livery.
There were a lot of bisexual ones.
And they would Laugh as they threw the phone numbers they got during the night out the window. (no phones then to take numbers)
Then they would pay me all in singles and give great tips :)
So, she pretty much played herself, right?
A 50 y/o entertainer, who compulsively shakes her bare a*s in front of every camera within her sight. Even during a personal date night.
The strippers paid you?
Nice work, if you can get it.
lol
I didn’t drive them home in the cab for free!!
:)
And they never offered “alternative” payment :(
Some hookers did through the years.
I always said no thanks
Taking clothes off for women “empowers” them. Hollywood says it all the time...
I’ll bet you could write some interesting books.
Just change the city, street names, and what they usually wore.
PeTA used to do it all the time, but for some reason they've stayed away from that tactic in recent years, for reasons I can't fathom.
What they wore... :)
The stripper stories would be the tame ones.
The crack addicts, the drunks, the would be robbers, the assaults with various weapons...
SMH
What a lousy job.
But I did average 8 bucks an hour sometimes!! :)
And no it wasn’t THAT long ago.
There’s just no money in livery.
Wise call.

In What’s New, Pussycat (1965 movie written by Woody Allen):
Michael :Did you find a job?
Victor :Yeah, I got something at the striptease. I help the girls dress and undress.
Michael :Nice job.
Victor :Twenty francs a week.
Michael James:Not very much.
Victor :It’s all I can afford.
10 Points for you! I didn’t think anyone would remember the name of that song. I can hear it in my head right now.
Hit it, Ella!:
“Holding hands at midnight,
‘Neath a starry sky
Oh, that’s nice work if you can get it,
And you can get it, if you try!”
I have the biggest women high end consignment store in my area. I know when all the strippers were there shopping because they all pay with $2 bills. My wife doesnt like to touch the $2s.
"powerful"??
Need some definition for this attribute... Bench Press 425 lbs? Squat 425 lbs?? Or maybe just the Clean & Jerk or the Snatch 425 lbs??
I love how Hollywood always tries to rationalize soft port as high art.
When I worked in an insurance agency, we’d have strippers come in and pay their entire monthly premium in singles.
In other words it will die a swift death at the box office.
