President Trump needs a trade deal with China as quickly as possible to avert a sharp slowdown of the US economy, as recent polls have made clear.

This is pure BS, and being the first line of this drivel, the rest that follows is nonsense, IMO.

Agreed.

China exports about 5 times as much to us as we do to them. IOW, they are 5 times more dependent upon the existing, very unsatisfactory, set of trade arrangements than we are. With a 5:1 advantage, even a dog knows that it is game, set and match very quickly. Donald Trump is no idiot, especially when it comes to using advantages that he has to their maximum. If we had a 10% advantage, he’d use it to great effect upon the Chinese; with a 500% advantage, he simply cannot lose unless he tries to do so. He and we are NOT desperate - the Chinese are.
