Trump rips ‘Mr. Tough Guy’ John Bolton over North Korea, Iraq
NY Post ^ | Sep 11 2019 | Bob Fredericks

President Trump on Wednesday ripped his ex-national security adviser John Bolton, calling him “Mr. Tough Guy” and asserting that he’d damaged Trump’s effort to cut a nuke deal with Kim Jong Un.

“John wasn’t in line with what we were doing and actually in some cases he thought it was too tough what we were doing,” he said.

“Mr. Tough Guy, you know, you had to go into Iraq. Going into Iraq was something he felt very strongly about,” the president told reporters after a White House meeting on vaping.

My question: Why did Trump hire this warmonger to begin with? Bolton supported the Iraq war, apparently supported Obamas war on Libya and has been openly advocating for launching a war on Iran for years.

Maybe Trump thought Bolton would serve Trumps agenda, but that’s like, in the fable, trusting the scorpion to change its nature

Like Cheney, Bolton is one of those “tough guy” hawks who couldn’t be bothered to serve in Vietnam

Not outside the realm of possibility that it’s all a carefully orchestrated good cop/bad cop setup.

Trump likes to have all viewpoints at the table, but once he makes a decision it’s done. I like John Bolton but even I noticed that he never got onboard with a decision. Not only that but he tossed marbles under the feet of those who did. I’m surprised he wasn’t fired after the Libya comment. I expected he was dead man walking after that one.

I think both Trump and Bolton should just move on, stop criticizing each other.

Here's my opinion:

There's a tendency to assume that Bolton was hired to advise the President of the United States. That may have been why President Trump hired him, but that wasn't why Bolton took the job.

Bolton took the job to influence the President of the United States, not to advise him. That's where the relationship broke down. He's been exposed as a globalist fraud, not a "national security advisor."

Did he have bone spurs?

Yeah it is COMPLETELY outside of that realm.

Like sessions is still playing 3d chess.

Trump has the need to try to obliterate anyone he has a falling out with.

And OK, that’s who he is and I don’t give a sh.t

But let’s not make believe that’s not the case.

He’s a great president doing a great job.

He is also a man that sees fit to take on many personal vendettas.

I don’t think that is going to happen, just 3 minutes ago

In fact, my views on Venezuela, and especially Cuba, were far stronger than those of John Bolton. He was holding me back!

While I always support President Trump, I see no need to rip John Bolton. Nothing to be gained by doing so, in my opinion.

Apples and oranges. Trump isn’t a warmonger. Trump may have not gone to Vietnam, but unlike Vietnam-dodgers Bolton and Cheney, he’s not looking for excuses to send my kids into battle in some regimechange war halfway around the globe

I have no problem with Trump dumping on Bolton, who sabotaged Trumps efforts to get a workable Korean deal, and was trying to manipulate Trump into a war on Iran

My problem is with Trump hiring this warmonger in the first place

OK I wish he would not do that...

But, I’m not about to hate him for it.

That isn’t Trump’s style, and it’s probably the thing I can’t stand about him most. If he could lay off twitter so much, and just not attack former employees and other people so much like this, he would be so much more popular.

In general, that’s true, you’re right

But the Bolton case is materially different. Bolton actively worked to sabotage Trumps foreign policy agenda. I was so surprised Trump didn’t can him months ago, after Bolton undercut Trumps Korean policy.
