In phone calls to McMaster, Trump told his second national security adviser that he missed him.
WASHINGTON As President Donald Trump began losing confidence in national security adviser John Bolton, whom he fired on Tuesday, he reached out to the man he had fired to give Bolton the job: retired Lt. Gen. H.R. McMaster.
In phone calls to McMaster the first of which took place last fall Trump told his second national security adviser that he missed him, according to two people familiar with the conversations. Its a sentiment the president has also expressed to White House aides, they said. Trump has solicited McMaster's advice on various national security challenges, even asking McMaster whom he should nominate to lead the Pentagon, they said.

I don’t believe this story one iota. McMaster was a treacherous backstabber. Why would Trump turn to this bum?
Bad call , Boltin was an big asset
Oh ABC, fake news reporting at it’s best.
NBC, FAKE NEWS!!
Yep, the story is completely fabricated.
McMaster just received an unexpected phone call. He stares at his cell phone, incredulous, immobilized, almost speechless.
“You ‘Miss Me’? ........Who is this really? Who is paying you to do this?”
Maybe they ought to apply for the open position - since they obviously know better than Trump on how to handle our national security.
Uh-huh... when i see the source is NBC, i know its a pack of semi-flacid lies. They only wish to drive wedges between people.
Agreed. Sounds like fake news to me.
OK. So one of them was John Bolton. Who was the other? LOL.
I will be very surprised if he gives McMaster the job. We’ll see.
PRESIDENT TRUMP: "We are having a problem with Country X. What should we do?"
JOHN BOLTON: "Invade them and be prepared to occupy the place for at least 50 years."
PRESIDENT TRUMP: "We are having a problem with Country Y. What should we do?"
JOHN BOLTON: "Invade them and be prepared to occupy the place for at least 50 years."
PRESIDENT TRUMP: "We are having a problem with Country Z. What should we do?"
JOHN BOLTON: "Invade them and be prepared to occupy the place for at least 50 years."
PRESIDENT TRUMP: "Since you offer the same solution to every damn problem I bring to your attention, I already know your response and therefore it's a waste of money to keep you on the staff. You're fired."
Why would a deep state news outlet fabricate such a story? One thought - to try and create the narrative of confusion and uncertainty in the Trump administration. That’s what you do when you’re on the defensive and caught off guard by the firing of Bolton. Narrative shift becomes necessary.
Trump doesn’t seem to be very good at picking National Security advisors.
No names? No news. Fake.
Whose leaking this stuff?
What are his alternatives?
I guess he could be a one-man show.
“Bolton was a big ass”
well you got most of it right
Has anyone else noticed this. Almost 100% of the time, I mean check it out if you don’t believe me. Almost 100% of the time when there’s a story like this, that is later debunked, it’s going to have 3 or more people listed as authors.
In fact, I would say there’s an inverse relationship to the number of authors and the truthfulness of the story. The more authors, the more less likely it’s going to be truthful.
