What began as a question from actress Alyssa Milano about the scriptural basis for owning a gun has led to a meeting Tuesday with Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz.
After Milano’s Twitter query, Cruz responded with a 10-tweet explanation, equating gun ownership with self-defense.
At the close, he said he would “be happy to sit down & visit next week about uniting to stop gun violence & about the Constitution.
Milano announced Thursday that she had accepted the invitation, event though the two “don’t agree on this issue.”

I’ll give Ted credit. He isn’t afraid to talk to the opposition
He is probably the best debater in Congress. Many people may not like him. But give him credit for his powerful knowledge and speaking abilities.
This little actress chick won’t know what hit her.
I don’t like Cruz’ emphasis on the self-defense aspect of the 2nd Amendment. The defense against tyranny aspect is much more important and he ignores it completely. His position is just a baby step better than “it’s all about the right to go hunting”!
This is why he was my choice in the primary. I so wanted to see him debate Hillary.
This will be equivalent to the 1956 NY Yankees (Mantle, Berra, Ford) playing a Little League Team.
I was on a college debate team and was pretty good at it, but remember a few times when we came into the room to find the opponent was a very inexperienced team, that wasn’t really even in the game. I reckon that’s how this will go - like putting the Patriots up against Podunk High School Jr. Varsity ;-)
Aren't those really two sides of the same coin?
Let’s just hope that people who watch it don’t decide to pick “the one with the biggest tits” as the winner.

I hear what you are saying and agree BUT defense against tyranny is the ultimate self defense.
Ted Cruz will win on points, hands down.
But Milano will wipe the floor with him for persuasion.
