Meh. I switched to LEDs because they got better, and came down in price to where I can buy an unopened box at garage sales for a buck. Didnt really care about any eco stuff.

a day late and a dollar short: LED bulbs have finally been improved to the point that one can buy high quality LED bulbs of brightness equal to incandescents as well as color profiles equal to incandescents (3500K), though i now prefer the 3000K bulbs. likewise one can buy high output 3000K 4’ & 8’ fluorescent tubes that put out more lumens/watt than LEDs ...
The corkscrew bulbs sucked and contained mercury oxide. ‘So much safer’. But I’m done with incandescent too. Been using LED for years. Muy Bueno. Plus prices are way down on them.

If the past few years I have gone through two sets of expensive LED flat panel sets with integrated fixtures on my garage. In both cases, they lasted just over a year and the electronics failed. I have now gone back to simple incandescent bulb mounts on a timer that are working much better.
I’ve yet to find a decent LED bulb for a standard table lamp. Most produce approximately the lumens of a 60 W incandescent, and l’ve yet to find a decent and reliable equivalent to a 100 W incandescent.
Even a 100 W incandescent is less than desirable for me. I’ve always had a problem with 3 way incandescents. The bright setting seldom lasts more than a couple hours, then you’re stuck with an expensive 60 W bulb.
I can get LEDs these days at the dollar store. Still happy to see choice allowed back again.

Are the bulbs, in question, the Chinese bulbs that have a strange shape with curly appearance? That have warnings on how to dispose of a broken bulb? That take a few seconds to achieve the full brightness?
If so, the best thing that could happen is to ban those stupid bulbs. Barack, the crooked, has made his commission on those sold, time to cut him off.
Has anyone noticed the heat sink on some of these LED bulbs? They are as hot to the touch as any reg 60 watt.
Aren’t most led bulbs much lower voltage and maybe dc. ?
I don’t think the cost of transforming the power is recognized in the LED efficiency?
LED’s have come a long way. I replaced a troublesome 3 tube fluorescent panel kitchen light which ran at 150 watts when on with a similar surface area but 1/2 inch thick LED panel with a 5000 degree daylight color profile(same as the fluorescent threesome). It runs at 50 watts and provides nearly the same amount of light(I can even change the color temp if I want) though the fall off angle is slightly steeper but manageable.
