US Special envoy to the Middle East Jason Greenblatt resigned Thursday.

Greenblatt was one of the key architects of the Trump Administration's long-waited peace plan, which has been dubbed the "Deal of the Century."

He will remain in his position for several weeks until the Administration reveals the details of the peace plan, which is expected to be shortly after Israel's elections on September 17.

In its announcement, the White House stated that Greenblatt had originally intended to serve as special envoy for two years, but stayed on longer...

Orthodox, making government service difficult. Has six children and is used to making a lot more money. Good for him!

If he would have hung around a little longer, he would have become a swamp dweller and learned right enough how to make big-time money.

Historically few have lasted longer than 2 years in this position. It is a lot of travel and arm-twisting with intransigent terrorists and our allies in Israel. Very difficult with very rare breakthroughs. I am sure it is both mentally and physically taxing.

Yep. Surprised he didn’t.

Being Modern Orthodox, maybe he didn’t want to stay that close to Pres. Trump.

President Trump’s big challenge is finding people such as Jason to agree to serve with him in public service.

Most capable Americans shun government service because it’s frankly filled with people that frustrate things to no end.

See the 4-minute 1980 interview and transcript of Donald Trump and Rona Barrett especially when she asks him about finding capable people to serve in government:

We need more like him.

Trump is the envoy of the American people. Greenblatt is the envoy of Trump to the State of Israel, reflecting his policy as POTUS, and carrying it out.

“until the Administration reveals the details of the peace plan, which is expected to be shortly after Israel’s elections on September 17.”

This could be big.

Peace plan. Peace deal of the century. Whatever. Stay pessimistic, and you may be pleasantly surprised. Get your hopes up, and they will likely be dashed.

Oslo caused death and destruction for decades. Most infuriating thing was listening to the families of the victims du jour feelingly voice their hopes for peace and a better day, as the Clintons “hoped,” i.e., ordered, the Israeli PM to not let this “senseless violence” disrupt the piece process.

Those were the years that made my mind up to one day go to Israel and not come back. When Obama came in, I knew it was time. Been here ever since, except for one visit to my parents, and one sojourn in Georgia to get my granddaughters out of the system and bring them home with me.

Sure, I hope—that experience be proved wrong for once.

I expect they will strategically focus more on economic incentives and cash flows this time, to shift the balance systematically.

I expect more riots and knifings, a few auto rammings, and an unequivocal rejection of the deal by guess who.
