Educating Bernie on 'extreme poverty', Jane Chastain schools senator, hammers U.N. over claims about America

Let's be clear: Here in the United States no one has to live in "extreme poverty." That is what happens in countries that fall under a dictatorship.

Yes, we have alcoholics and drug addicts living on the streets of some major cities like Los Angeles, San Francisco and New York because their Democrat-led governments allow it and their friends at the ACLU sue to keep us from enforcing laws against loitering and panhandling. For those left-wing mayors and city council members, it's all about the freedom to abuse yourself and live in squalor at the expense of others.

There are other options for these people, but many refuse the aid that is available to them. We can't help them as long as we lack the will to get them off the streets.

Unfortunately, some of these people are mentally ill, but they can no longer be confined in hospitals against their will because the ACLU sued to turn them loose. Yes, liberals love to blame President Reagan who closed many mental hospitals – after they were emptied by liberal jurists.

For whatever reason, some are more motivated than others. Probably climate change or something like that. Anyway, thanks Jane. Only problem is that she considers the possibility that barnie can be educated about anything. THEY are not like that.

Anyone lecturing the country about wealth inequality and global warming while owning 3-4 houses needs to be told to sit down and shut up.

The problem with comparing “poverty” in the U.S. with other countries is that “poverty” is defined in this country as being below a certain percentage of the population, typically about 20%. That works out to be $24,000 in today’s dollars. If you had that amount of income fifty years ago you would have been classified in the upper middle class or rich. But as government sponsored price inflation devalued the country’s fiat currency the government would just redefine poverty as being below that arbitrary and specious 20%. In other words, there will ALWAYS be 20% of our population living in “poverty”. The so called War on Poverty will never be won, it can’t because the government bureaucracy won’t allow it to be.

I can personally attest to this point having visited several of these S-hole countries as well as several communist countries before the fall of the wall. Even the poorest people in the USA are 10x better off than the average person in many poor African nations. And the communist run states idealized by Bernie were a complete disaster for the average Joe. I stood in bread lines when visiting Romania under Ceacescu.

“...their friends at the ACLU sue to keep us from enforcing laws against loitering and panhandling.”

And some black robed tyrant decided the suit had merit. Frankly I don’t blame them for suing. It’s what they do. I blame the judge for pulling these “civil rights” out of his ass and imposing this on our society.
