Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) declined to go as far as Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) in calling for the public ownership of utilities during CNN’s climate change town hall Wednesday evening, but she said she will tell utility companies that use carbon-based fuel that they are “done” by 2035. “Bernie Sanders has endorsed the idea of the public ownership of utilities, arguing that we can’t adequately solve this crisis without removing the profit motive from the distribution of essential needs like energy,” an attendee said.
“As president, would you be willing to call out capitalism in this way and advocate for the public ownership of our utilities?” the man asked.

Aberrant nonsense. Every public utility sets rates higher than private industry. Once competition is removed their is no ceiling on cost of service. Government ownership of public services results in rates set according to government interests, not market demand. This is the foundational principle of socialism. Government ownership provides a fungible source of revenue.
From the start of the regulatory approval process until going on-line, the construction time for a nuclear power plant is 12 to 18 years. There are currently only 4 active NRC construction permits to replace the 11 nuclear power plants that have recently closed or are scheduled for closure. Good luck finding a reliable source of energy to replace fossil fuels by 2035, particularly if we are all required to drive electric cars.
I watched she said a lot of crazy things including repeated references to somehow eliminating “your cheeseburgers”.

And the incredible irony is that the entire environment movement was founded on getting rid of nukes of all kinds (as weapons and a power source)...and now they are trapped by the falsehoods of their climate change beliefs into needing to have nuke plants by the hundreds to avoid dumping carbon into the atmosphere. Schaedenfreud in action - this is almost as good as Trump winning an election!
