Hopefully she is one of the women in Romney's binder.
However, don’t forget about the possibility of Susan Collins and Mitt Romney putting the kabosh to it.
One way or another, Ruth has got to go this year.
“McConnell can say whatever he wants. He doesnt have the votes next year unless POTUS nominates a Garland type moderate RINO. Collins, Gardner, Murkowski, etc.”
Sure he does. And he will.
Adrenochrome, mirrors, holograms and surgically altered actors will keep the macabre RBG brand going.
Collins is loved in Maine....think she will chance the fact by voting with the dems?....after the kavanaugh hearing and how the dems threatened her and disrespected her personally?
Only when the Pres and Senate majority were different parties.
Collins barely voted for Kavanaugh and is on the ballot in 2020. No chance she votes for a Trump nom.
Elections have consequences. The Republicans hold the Senate now and they have the Constitutional Power to confirm a Supreme Court Justice. Simple.
I didn’t miss the midterms. Apparently, you did. No way the the Trump hating GOP will want to give POTUS a big SCOTUS victory during election season. Especially those like Gardner and Collins who are on the ballot in blue states.
The media uniformly claims that McConnell is being a hypocrite but say nothing about the democrats who all said that Obama’s pick had a right to a vote and are now switching their positions.
YDHAFC!
Amazing how people are rewriting a "rule" that really wasn't a rule to justify denying one president a Supreme Court appointment and justifying another president a Supreme Court appointment. Why not just state the obvious? McConnell denied Obama his appointment because he could. He'll try to push through Trump's appointment because he can. Right or wrong or phony rules don't enter into it. Politics and politics alone does. And if the shoe was on the other foot in 2016 or 2020 the Democrats would do no different.
I think Ginsburg has the plan to continue on through 2020, and hope that Trump is beaten. I could see Thomas retiring here in the next month, and his position being filled quickly, with the Democrats trying to find some great weakness with the candidate (I’d go and find some conservative black female just to make this a pain for the Democrats).
So I could see five to seven GOP ‘no’ votes easily.
I agree. And the GOP’s favorite tactic is to sink the nom before hearings so there never is a vote. Then they don’t even have to go on record opposing POTUS. That’s what Romney did on Trump’s Fed picks and Burr/McConnell did on his DNI pick.
Yep, it's majority rule in Congress lest we forget.
I could actually see Ginsburg retiring in 2020 because she knows the GOP doesn’t have the votes to replace her before the election. That would give the Dems a big campaign issue to motivate their base and nothing is lost if Trump wins because no way Buzzy will make it through 4 years of Trump’s second term.
“The Democrats have decided that they need to go to war on federal court vacancies, not only the Supreme Court, but for the lower federal courts as well.”
They KNOW they are at war against America and all for which we stand.
If I’m not mistaken, we can only lose 3 Senate votes - or 4 with Pence voting in case of a tie. Does anyone think we’d lose more than 4? We’re screwed if that happens.
Take that, all you Yertle haters here on FR.
Yertle has his yuses. He’s not everything we might want in an aggressive majority leader but to compare him to a RINO traitor like Paul Ryan becomes more ridiculous with every judge confirmed.
