President Trump deserves enormous credit for his exceptional commitment to free speech at the G7 summit in Biarritz, France. Foreign leaders, like our own illiberal, liberal activists, are chomping at the bit to introduce ever more online censorship.
At the G7, European leaders introduced a measure that would have drafted tech companies into the role of government censors, forcing them to police online content and remove anything that bureaucrats deem to be insensitive. Emmanuel Macron struggled in vain to conceal his disappointment as he announced that the United States had refused to sign on to his pet G7 compact, which would have institutionalized the exact same kind of discriminatory treatment that American conservatives are fighting against here at home.
However, President Trumps demural is no mean feat. By refusing to sign on to the repressive accord, the President took a crucial stand in defense of one of the core tenets of democratic governance. The traditional conception of free speech -- the notion that governments cannot prevent citizens from expressing their opinions or punish them for doing so -- once reigned supreme across the Western World. From its roots in the Magna Carta, to its refinement in the works of John Locke, to its codification in the U.S. Constitutions First Amendment, freedom of speech may be the greatest Anglo-American contribution to human civilization.

It’s actually “champing at the bit.” That drives me up the wall.
Hi God, it’s me Madison.
I didn’t write this.
You got your pre and post “demural”, but you never have your crescent moon outside a CVS “demural” ever!
The best you get is a Barry “life partner” Manilow key board twinkle “demural”.
Look. These are tough times. Bread lines with choices like cheddar wheat and cheesy bagel.
Best to skateboard through parks of trees and benches.

Thank you, Pres. Trump, for keeping these totalitarian jackals at bay (at least temporarily).
“Its actually champing at the bit. That drives me up the wall.”
Right you are: “Champing at the bit vs. chomping at the bit”:
“One definition of bit is a metal mouthpiece used for controlling a horse, and one definition of champ is to bite or chew noisily. These are the senses meant in the idiom champing at the bit, which refers to the tendency of some horses to chew on the bit when impatient or eager. In its figurative sense, it means to show impatience while delayed, or just to be eager to start.
“The idiom is usually written chomping at the bit, and some people consider this spelling wrong. But chomp can also mean to bite or chew noisily (though chomped things are often eaten, while champed things are not), so chomp at the bit means roughly the same as champ at the bit.
“In fact, chomp, which began as a variant of champ, is alive in English while the biting-related sense of champ is dead outside this idiom, so its no wonder that chomping at the bit is about 20 times as common as champing at the bit on the web. Champing at the bit can sound funny to people who arent familiar with the idiom or the obsolete sense of champ, while most English speakers can infer the meaning of chomping at the bit.
“Still, if youre writing for school or for readers who are versed in English, champing at the bit is probably the safer choice.”

A consensus that 'hate speech' must been curtailed will be agreed upon by all, including our president because 'hate speech' is dangerous.
The 1st Amendment will come with a non-constitutional footnote creating 'precedent'; 'hate speech bad'.
The foolish citizens will agree we all need to be protected from 'hate speech' and gladly surrender basic freedom of speech to feel safe.
... only a matter of a few years when a Democrat is back in the White House.

I hope not.
I’ve noticed recently that formerly loud, assertive progs (usually teacher union members) now lower their voices when repeating the slur du jour against POTUS and they also check out their surroundings.
I’m hoping that means they know they are not a majority.
The louder and more obnoxious the progs become the more their numbers decline.
Funny how that works.
islam is a totalitarian death cult founded by a child rapist.
I think a lot of former Clinton supporters are coming around to our side now that they’ve seen President Trump’s economic policies in action.
More dangerous to us is the hi tech/Chinese alliance to control our thoughts and lives through the Internet.
